I've gotten 3 notifications today that a PM has arrived, but when I check, nothing.

And I cleaned my inbox a while ago, so I got like 50 now...

one time, i had 120 PM's or so it said. when i checked it, there was nothing. where are these 120 PM's, and i really dont communicate that much to have 120 PM's in my box anyways. but those 120 whatever's eventually disappeared. still a mistery to this day.

are you loading a link from cache? if you cache'd a link when you recieved a PM, it will still bring up the notification every time you use the link. a bit like if you click back, it will do the same.

Sounds like you have Private Message Syndrome....

Usually folks with ADD get PMS, while they are online, they get IM'd that they have a PM, then get distracted(usually by STFU), finally go to check, and nothing is there so they say WTF? When this happens repeatedly, they finally get fed up and say OMG, post on TA in the COR, where others find enjoyment in their misery and say LMAO.

No I just type in the adress and it sometimes says I got a PM, but when I check, nothing.
