Technics 1210's.. mk2 VS. mk3..
Hello again,
If you were to put 1210's up for sale on ebay, would it make any difference what so ever if they were mk2 or mk3?
I know there's no difference basically between the two. But would the mk3's be any way more favourable?
Cheers lads,
nelly
the only real difference is the fact that a mk3 has a quartzlocked motor, meaning a lack of a notch at 0% on the pitch fader. this might not sound a big difference, but it makes precision around 0% much much better.

sorry i didn't read the post properly
the difference in price would be quite small i would imagine..
I own an MK3, not an M3D, and it still has the click at the 0 pitch. MK3s shouldn't cost more than MK2s.
I didn't even know there was a difference..
Thanks for clearing that up.. and thanks for the answers. I didn't know whether or not the pitch fader having that notch or not was a big deal. Obviously not.. Thanks again
nelly
the on/off switch is also differet on the m3d its harder to accidently turn of like i was reminded when i accidently hit the off switch 2x on the mk2's at a NYE gig during a mix!!

i was always under the impression the mk3 was the first quartzlocked technics deck.. but then again you could be right.
if it wasnt quartzlocked, what exactly was the difference?

I love the MK3 / M3D debate and the 1200 / 1210 debate. It's awesome. People always say they own the 1210 or the MK3 and they argue with other people who own the 1210 or MK3. It's like an unsolved mystery....
lol this is funny..
Just to put pen to paper now.
1200- silver
1210- black
mk2- has a notch at 0% on the pitch fader + The on/off button is raised.
mk3D- Hasn't got a notch at 0%pitch fade + On/off button is sunk.
mk3- Reported to have either a notch or no notch
, same with the on/off button!
Discuss..
nelly
ps. I thought it was the mk4 that was only released in japan?
the only thing i know for sure is that the M3D and MK3 are not the same. Why? I don't know. The M3D has a sunk power switch and no 0-click. I own 2 of them so I know that much. As for anything else - its all greek mythology.
i dont think even the greeks know.
