[New] De Vargas - The Train (Nullistic 2005 Remix)
Hey guys, Nullistic here. You might have heard of my name through one of Gerry Cueto's remixes of my music (Don't Let Go) on this site. I've got a new remix of an old classic, De Vargas - The Train. It's got powerful sound, crisp highs, new melodies, and takes you for a sweet uplifting journey. I hope everyone enjoys this track, and I'd love to hear some feedback on it.

downloading now...stand by.
Well...
I don't really know what to say. It's not really my style so I can't really tell you anything other than it's a technically solid production. The sequencing of your instruments is spot on - especially regarding the flanged hats and the rapid-fire drums. The percussion is great and meshes well with the rest of the song. There are just the right amounts of effects and fades, and it sounds really tight.
However it sounds like this song needs an anthem-like hook. Maybe a huge break with a smashing synth solo or something. Otherwise it's just a droning boomboom. Your talent does not deserve to be denied here; I feel the energy from the song but there's nothing that makes me go "whoa.." and remember it.
I like the modernization of old songs. This has a nice mix of old- and new-school trancey sounds but it carries with it a pop sound. If you're gonna be producing for a trancey audience, then you gotta go underground and take some risks with your sounds and breaks. Otherwise, sell out and start producing pop dance songs. You're good either way. Everyone needs to hear some new dance stuff all the time. Why else would we all go to the clubs?
Don't waste your spectacular talent on boomboom that everyone's heard before.
Hey, thanks for the comment, much appreciated
. Im glad you loved the overall sound of the track.
Well, when it comes to remixes, I tend to produce with the more clubbish sound, since if it were to get released, i'd want it to appeal to the club scene. But, you mentioned that it needs an anthem-like hook? That's what the main melody is, an anthem hook, it's the original melody to The Train, which I thought, was very anthemish. But it may sound and appeal different to others.
Yeah I love to give old school classic trance tracks a nice modern boost. And you may be right, I produced this track so it would appeal to the club scene, but most of my orignal tracks tend to be more unique, original, with lots of variation
.
Thanks a lot for the comment; I'd love to hear what others think.
Oh, and if anyone has a nice temp host where I could put this file for faster downloading, let me know =)

Production wise this is great, can't fault much. You've got the skill. I dont like the choice of track just because its pretty corny. I want to hear some darker, trancier tracks from you though.
