Absentee Iraqi's

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationw...-home-headlines

Registration for Iraq's National Assembly elections begins Monday, and the training of hundreds of poll workers is well underway to handle the estimated 67,000 potential voters who could travel to Los Angeles from around the Western states.

haters need not apply (but undoubtedly will).

small victories announce the rebirth of a once great nation.

I wouldnt be to worried about the safety of voters in Los Angeles..could be the odd traffic jam that might hold them up..wouldnt like to be in the same traffic jam when polling starts in Iraq..or even in the que outside the polling station for that matter..

I doubt its an issue of try and vote and possibly lose your life in LA.

Anyway i hope they aint useing those dodgey electronic voting machines in LA

hehe cool.

i can see an issue with people that are not iraqi citizens beeing eligible to vote tho. but oh well i guess this election is not like everyone else...

...or governor-elect Christine Gregoire's...
(8000 ghosts voted for her...)

I think these elections are a fucking joke and will have little to no impact on the outcome of the situation over there. But people will continue to ignore the overwhelming historical evidence that you can't force democracy. Alas the United States has proven over and over and over and over and over again that it doesn't learn from history. Its ok though, I won't suffer from the most likely failure that will be the U.S. experiment in Iraq. I hope you believers have fun.

Do you have a source on that 8,000? Dino Rossi was on T.V. last night and said they found 24 so far. I personally think they should have given another recount if Rossi wanted it and was willing to pay the costs for it.

As for Iraq, I would love for the vote to go well and a government to come together that can represent the people, but Iraq never has been a nation as defined by it's current boarders. It just doesn't seem like everyone shares the same vision of government there or gets along, but we'll see. Hopefully it all turns out peaceful somehow.
