Now dj Irene Dropped One Fun Fuckin Set!!!!

right when she came on and started dropping those rock songs with a 4/4 drum i was like, damn, feels like i'm back in highschool again going ot a rock concert lol, i was really enjoying that stuff, something different you don't get to hear all the time. Later on she got into some Sweet Trance. (i specifically enjoyed saltlake - sunset highway!!! ) great set and it was a lot of fun to dance to!!!! definately a great nite! of course mark oliver was dropping some sweet tunes as usual. (he loves murder was the bass so much )

Exactly how i felt during Ass-tral Projection.

Got there late. Irene was playing Air Force One as I got in.
Beat tempo was good for most of her set.
Would like to add -Anarchy in the UK by the Sex Pistols to the track list as well.

Mark O was good as always afterward.

Posted by mistahQ on Jan-16-2005 20:55:

also...

DJ Irene : U2 - its a beautiful day

Mark O : The world is mine
Red carpet - allright

maybe i'll remember some more after i wake up...

whatever! to each there own i guess...i liked how her set was so different and enjoyed the rock stuff, and then whats wrong with quality trance tunes!!!

what i find boring is techno/prog without purpose and direction. that drives me nuts ( i like techno and prog a lot, but when theres no purpose, it gets really fuckin boring and takes away my motivation to dance).

Posted by oleshka on Jan-16-2005 23:55:

went thinking its a regular mark oliver spin saturday. Stepped inside and a beautiful synth was playing which was pretty atypical..what a nice surprise!

'twas great night indeed!

Jay...your right...Astral ProCRAPtion sucked ass...

But you can't compare...

DJ Irene was alot of fun...

She did push the sound a lil too much though...

Either that or my hearing is finally getting ahead of me in age...

Agreed.
I toke in most of Irene's set sober and wasnt impressed with the flow of her set. The tracks she played were crowd pleasers only and i didnt hear the quality i expected. Im still confused as to what her style is cuz she was very inconsistant imo. Mark played a signature set. Wicked tracks at the end. End of time, seven cities . sweet.

Mark:
Dogzilla - your eyes

WICKED nite!!!!
superb end to the night....AND i still managed to hear out seven cities and get my coat before the mad rush!!!

fairly busy..but not overly packed...perfect!!!

Dj Irene was ALOT trancier than the last time she came. Was a real pleasant suprise ...AIRRRWAVEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!! for some reason i thought it was seven cities and ran around yelling it to everyone....then airwave kicks in and i feel like a loser ...

Mark OWNED it at the end...vintage stuff...Thanks Mark!!

Addy and Deko-ze @ zone in the morning were rocking too...though i froze my balls off waiting in line there.

Sandra collins next week.

p.s. George Williams was simply destroying the acid lounge at around 3am. We went to take a lil rest..and ended up staying MUCH longer. Wicked stuff!!! God i love A-Studio - SOS (skylark mix)..between the lounge and zone musta heard it 3 times!!

i wasnt even planning on going to this but somehow found myself there after begining the night at a hotel party. glad i went though, it was fun. good to see some familiar TA faces there.

DJ Irene - someone please ID that linkin park remix she played , i love linkin park and that song just blew me away.
the rest of her set was good, nothing special, she had some really good tracks as mentioned above but got a bit boring at times as well.

Mark oliver - as usual did a really good job, killer tunes towards the end of his set.

Posted by Funkyfun on Jan-17-2005 17:57:

Great nite out....DJ irene was quite impressive....On her last visit, she didn't spin long enuff but this time round she made the most of oppurtunity at hand....Mixing was flawless except one incident and track selection pretty good....Loved it when she dropped 'Katana - In silence (original)' since not too many dj's have @Guv i.e.....her set was hard edged as expected.....Mark then came in & destroyed whatever was left of the main room.....Talk about consistency, the way he does it week in week out is remarkable..... Shoutouts to Pet, Sam, lauren, Danielle, Carney, James and John...

Oh god...

Linkin Park???

That song was hardly a remix...It was like she was playing the original with a louder bass beat overlapping...

I was actually getting annoyed at hearing that song played...

I'm all about the remix but CMON!!!

Posted by djviek on Jan-17-2005 21:48:

I noticed in the tracklist it says (mashup) after a few of the songs.
can someone give me a definition for it?

Posted by Pett on Jan-17-2005 21:50:

mashup = 2 songs put together (like a live remix) usually the vocals and melody from one track and a bassline from another, but dj's are versitle.

mashups are also done in studios of course, but not in these cases
