Sgro Out... Martin Liberal Government = same old cronies
IS anyone convinced yet that the Paul Martin government isnt any better than Chretien was?
Will we finally see some change when the next election is called?
I hope so
Well....Klein seems to know what he's doing at least...
(For those that don't know, Ralph Klein is the Premier of the Province of Alberta that has an $8 Billion dollar surplus in his coffers)

How did he manage an 8 billion surplus?...it seems amazing in any western currency..just cutbacks or more efficiencies...or oil as St_Andrew mentioned......?

I still remember when Klein came to my school in grade 9, and we had some ceramony type thing in the gym. He spent the whole time staring at the presenter girl's rack (which was quite huge). Then there was the time he went to a homeless shelter and got in a fight with a few homeless people.
I'm pretty sure you'd have to have a pretty bad premier to not make money in Alberta. Not saying he's doing a bad job or anything, but he doesn't deserve too much credit for our surplus.

are you kidding me?? Alberta sole success is riding on high oil prices and the agreement they got with Ottawa to keep 100% of Oil revenus!
You need to be really stupid not to accumulate surpluses with the current oil prices... of course he's not stupid, but he hasn't done anything special, he's just riding the wave... and that success will be temporary to either oil prices crashing (not happening) or depletion of the resources (will happen).
Just look at Norway, another small country (almost the same population as Alberta) is riding the high oil prices wave, its 2005 budget has a 15 billion Euro surplus. But instead of lowering the taxes like Mr. Klein, the govt is puting that money into retirement funds to bonify the people's pension plans!
P.S.: excluding oil revenus for Norway, brings the budget to a 8.1 billion Euros defecit.
There's no denying Alberta's natural resources are a good reason for their success.
But didn't Klien cut taxes even before oil turned to gold?
you have to think how badly the ontario liberals would squander any sort of bonus revenues. I bet they would still raise taxes and put the excess money into some sort of slush fund to buy votes.
