Smile Remakes - Whats your fave of 2004/2005?

Well,

there's a lot of negative comments about remakes on the board, and in quite a few cases rightfully so, classics should remain untouched, but there are some real gems, what are your favourites?

Mine has to be Signum - First Strike (Signum Signal 2004 Remake) - what a fucking belter, that tune ROCKS, listened to it in my Car this morning on the Above & Beyond Laser-Kissed Trance CD that came with Mixmag, I have it on vinyl as well, what a corker. I really like what they did with that track, anyone else with me on that? that is the best Remake of 2004/2005 imho.

Perhaps I should start a poll?

I agree I liked the Signum remakes best in 2004. Didn't like too many of the other remakes to be honest, Mesh remix of Synaesthasia 2004 was pretty good as well imo.

First Strike is a good one, love that song!
But also Singularity 2005 by Dave 202 meet DuMonde

Plastic Boy - Twixt 2004 was a remake that I think was worth purchasing

Yeh Twixt 2004 i thought was a great remake.

And First Strike as well.

Seems we have similar taste

for the remakes, no, no particulary good ones this year, but for the new remixes of old tracks that came with the remakes li kwan - point zero (leama & moor remix / digital blonde remix)

Posted by eRRaTiK on Jan-17-2005 13:25:

The Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia 2004 (Ferry Corsten Remix)
Pirates Of Tribal - Greece 2004 (Olympic Btlg Mix)

the origional brainchild - symetry C was way better than this. they took a great epic track and commercialized the piss out of it. i usually love dumondes productions and dave 202's as well. but they should just let well enough alone on this one. i dont think they did taht track justice at all.

Posted by Sunquest on Jan-21-2005 04:47:

please no more remakes leave the original to be, theyre just being ruined

im waiting for edits of the 2005 mixes to come out, since producers are running out of tracks to remix

depeche mode - enjoy the silence (16 b mix)

Posted by isoterra on Jan-21-2005 10:37:

In Silence obviously

Also loved the vandit 2004 mixes of The Eternal.. the original never cut it for me. The 2003 (pulser/aspiration) mixes didn't do much for me either

Matt Darey Pres. Li Kwan - Point Zero 2004

my favourite version: Leama & Moor Remix

Posted by varun on Jan-21-2005 11:10:

Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia 2004
LSG - Netherworld 2005
Randy Katana - In Silence.

Tracks that i think are worthy of remakes would be:
Aftershock - Pink Bomb
Andalucia - Amethyst(Possibly a harder remake..along the lines of John Askew or Alex MORPH)

i hope this remaking/remixing classics is coming to an end
it shows most of the time the inspirationlessness of the producer/remixer
they better use and most of all take their time in making decent new songs in stead of making these inspireless songs on such short notices, its like everytime they shit, they think they have to make a new song

best 2004 remake for me is Plastic Boy - Twixt 2004, mike did a really good job on this one, also like the ferry corsten remix of synaesthesia
that's about it for the decent remakes, and the leama & moor remix of point zero was pretty strong as well
well only 3 good songs out of the soo many, too bad
