How does a compilation album get considered for a Grammy? Fuck that makes no sense!

Posted by starsearcher on Jan-18-2005 16:23:

Dunno

True...I'd say other than PVD's album I don't see anything spectacular in that list of nominees to be honest

What about Kish Kash.... that album was pretty impressive IMO

It's the grammys man, they make no sense anyway, they dont know how to catagorise anything. At least there is an electronic catagory now.

Yeah I haven't heard that one yet - guilty!

I have to laugh at these "awards" like the Oscars, Golden GLobes & Gramys....its all political...I would have like to have seen THAT catagory at the "Peoples Choice" awards instead

Congrats to PvD and the nominees...

i'm very very surprised tiestos olympic cd would not be on this list? especially since hes #1 in the world, so fits right in with the mainstream pyschy of the grammy's. A paul oakenfold compilation?? what a joke, is his mixing really that spectacular that it would deserve musical recognition??? i think not. but then again, when its a pop oriented mtv teenie bopper fest (with some slight exceptions) i don't have any interest at all.

the main thing i like about EDM opposed to pop is the producer comes first, singer second. In other words, edm musicians don't try to market the singer as a sex object (in most cases), which to me puts a whole lot more credibility in the music itself. I look at the singer as being very expendable, becuase singing is a great talent to have, but the real work comes in making the music, and singing second. after all, the sound engineers are essentially the ppl who make the singing 'perfect.'

ok thats my little rant. now i'm done

hmm, 'pvd - reflections' wasnt really realesed last year either

Posted by raveed on Feb-02-2005 23:27:

reflections on the whole was a big disappointment.. if these guys had any idea of electronic music firstly they wouldnt include albums which are mixes in place of individual compilations and since they are..they overlook far better albums like balance 005 by james holden ....

from the looks of it, not one person on that committee knows a thing about edm.. it's as if they did a search on Amazon for electronic music and nominated the first few titles that came up

ooh well.. at least they recognize it as a category

WOOOOHOOOO!!!! THATS MY BOY

Posted by Pett on Feb-08-2005 07:57:

great albulm
deserves recognition for sure.

Posted by karim on Feb-08-2005 08:11:

Legion of Boom has been getting alot of hype through some of the more mainstream media outlets. Hell, the Crystal Method was even awared the best act of the WMC last year award. They toured extensively and their album has gotten decent exposure. More so than PVD I'd say. I personally expect them to win, but I'd rather see PVD take it.

I hope this will be part of the actual TV broadcast rather the "off camera, pre-awards" or whatever they usually do before
