Read This! World's largest passenger jet

Surprised I'm actually the first one to post this but they've finally built that monster and unveiled it today

Airbus A380

Posted by Marcus007 on Jan-18-2005 17:05:

I've been following the A380 for quite some time now. It's quite the beauty, I just hope it's successful.

Posted by starsearcher on Jan-18-2005 17:09:

It cost about $13 billion to develop

DXB airport was the first in line for these babies!

Lol someone's gone a lil emirates-crazy

cool stuff tho...not sure what's in the emirates other than oil however, it seems they are making it into a playground for rich westerners primarily.

I like the world project - looks cool, I'd like to buy Israel and have private parties with Tiesto haha...

anyway back to topic

Posted by Kaz on Jan-18-2005 17:26:

Posted by sohaness on Jan-18-2005 17:41:

its a nice plane, but not nearly as pretty as the b747...that plane still makes me weak in the knees. like a teenage schoolgirl getting 'touched' for the first time.

ok...i said too much :P

Hopefully having bigger planes will lessen the number of smaller planes, thereby lowering air congestion.

Posted by RobbyG. on Jan-18-2005 18:23:

There was a show on Discovery or TLC about how that plane was designed & built.Everything about this Airbus is HUGE .Whats funny is that Airbus had a floor model with a lounge/bar & other features but the airlines that will buy this plane will NO WAY take on those features.They'll instead put seats in every inch of that plane to get the MOST $$$ from each flight much like the 747 when it first came out.

nto the airport but the airline...

Emirates Airlines is teh leader in the airline industry (unbiased comment..theyve won awards to prove it)

Posted by starsearcher on Jan-18-2005 18:35:

I'm sure someone will end up getting the lounge thing ..at least I hope so cause i'd love to see that someday

Funny you guys are mentioning Virgin because chances are they'll be the ones who keep the lounges.

/yet another shameless and irrelevant Emirates point ;-) (sorry):

Since Emirates Airlines will be flying to Toronto in 2007 the massive fuel capacity of these planes are enough to carry you half way across the world without having to stop over at London/Amsterdam/France.

wtf is YTO?!?!

Posted by Kaz on Jan-18-2005 19:32:

YTO = Toronto International
YYZ = Pearson

....YYZ is the international airport...Toronto only has 1, unless you're talking about the island airport and downsview airport which would not make any sense...

Actually, SQ (Singapore Airlines) will be the first commercial airline to fly the A380 on 2006. The only airport right now to accomodate the A380 is Munich (or they are nearly complete). By 2010, there will only be about 72 airports (I recall reading this in some journal, but maybe the number is wrong) which can accomodate the A380, so it will be a while until the A380 can be flown to nearly every airport.

The best thing about Vigin Atlantic, is the bar in the upper deck!! Complete with bar stools, bartender, etc..plus the flight attendants in VS are pretty hot too!
