ASOT Cancelled
Cant believe there hasnt been a thread about this here.
The worlds most influencial trance radio/internet show, Armin Van Buuren's A State Of Trance has been cancelled. Quite shocked about this really, its so massive, I cant work out why this has happened...
thoughts?
maybe it was too much for armin?
i know ID-T didnt help him at all, he did the whole show, all the prep and had no one helping him... heard him say once it was tiring.
thats bad!
i dont think its cancelled.. got this in my email today
"Due to a change in the programming schedule ID&T Radio will no longer be broadcasting Armin van Buuren's "A State of Trance" radio show. We are currently looking into the possibility of collaborating with another radio station and will keep you informed."
lets hope they are just updating it and making it an english version
i think its good!
He churned out far to many choons which ended up in a lot of shite getting out there and an over saturation of the market.
I think if he kept it to once a month it would be a lot better.
and what happened to john digweed on kissFM?

I'm officially pissed. ASoT was my weekly fix and I got to hear a lot of tunes that were never big hits, but I truly liked. Here's hoping that Armin finds another outlet, but I guess it's just Markus Schulz for now.
i dont see what the big deal with Schulz is, i find it a bit boring..
shame about ASoT being canned though

Listen to Joy 94.9fm (Melb) on any Friday or Saturday night (after about 11pm) and youll hear better prog trance than shulz:- We're not in Miami, so listen to some Melbourne Stylez.
DJ's include D-Space on Fridays and Melbourne Legend Vas-1 on Saturdays, with some very special
guests coming soon.

hehe, the music is less gay than melbournes nova
but yeah, gay radio just got gayer lol
hi cake helmets
i think it will actually be benificial to the show
armin has said himself that during the time the show is off air he will be able to spend time thinking of new ideas for the new asot, he has definetly said that he wants to make a big change for the better, it will be interesting to see what that change is and how it pans out!
peace!
From Armin, you could try looking these up in other threads of course

| Hey everybody, I'm actually still on holiday as we speak but I got quite a few worrying messages about my radioshow. no more?? I don't think so!! Here's where we stand: Before I left for Australia I had a meeting with the radio people and they simply stated they wanted A STATE OF TRANCE to continue, in my face. I prepared all radioshows for my absense like i always do (including the YEARMIX which took me two weeks productiontime). I get to Australia only to hear that the show is discontinued, including a beautiful recording of my Sydney NYE set (which was supposed to be ASOT 183). The last rating showed that ASOT had 6,3% marketshare, which makes the cancellation of the show quite hard to understand. But then again, it's not my station, it's not my money, this is something we have to deal with. But it does feel like a stab in the back and a big disrespect for all the years of free work. I do want to thank ID&T for all the freedom they have given me over the years. The good news is however, we have SEVERAL options to choose from. So far there has been SERIOUS interest from MAJOR stations in Holland and all around the world. It's quite luxurious actually. And the reactions from the people when they heard the show wasn't there (the phone at Armada rang the WHOLE week) was really a nice thing to hear...The most important thing for me now is to think what I want with the show. It's been 3 1/2 years in running now, (the longest on ID&T), the music has changed and meanwhile a lot of people started shows that look awefully like ASOT (which is definitely not a bad thing!). I think it's a good idea to look back and consider the future. Personally, the XXL shows were always my favorites and I loved the live aspect of it all. On the other hand, mostly two full workingdays a week were spend in searching new tracks for the show and I often drove to the studio in Amsterdam thinking: why the hell am I doing this? The fanbase of the show kept the show running so far and kept me awake however and is more important than anything else. So, what do you want? An English version of the show? More livesets? A new name for the show? A new broadcast time? ASOT is still here, we just need to think what we want with the future. Armin van Buuren |

| What happened to the show ASOT? Armin - The directors of the station decided to change the station and go more commercial and they kicked my show off. They promised me to my face they would keep the show but when I went on tour to Australia and came back they kicked me off the station and nobody told me. But the good news is there new options, s a lot of diff radio stations all over the world are interested, its pretty luxurious I have a lot of things to choose from. Theres dynamite FM in Russia, XM Radio in the US theres several good offers. I just have to make up my mind to see what I want with the show; with A State of Trance. Its been running for 3.5 years , takes a lot of time to do the show, I still love it and want to do it but I need to think of the future, what do I want with my dj career what do I want with the show . Ive been having bad times with like forums and all the negative stuff about trance, and people are saying trances is dead. It keeps growing and its still good but when I started the radio show nobody had a radio show and now everybody has an internet radio show. So I dont know if I want to consider going on with it. But I wont leave fans of the show hanging |
