Dunno Headphones of Today - which one is best?

Ok, so we seen a few headphone threads lately, asking about which ones are good and what not, but it's all scattered information, so let's get down to business for the people looking to buy new headphones (like myself )

Here are the big brand headphones on the market at the moment. Please let us know WHAT YOU USE (if one of them), WHY YOU USE IT, and if you've used many other models listed below, tell us WHY YOU GOT RID OF THEM.

PIONEER HDJ-1000

SENNHEISER HD25

SONY MDR-V700DJ

STANTON PRO 3000

TECHNICS RP-DJ1200

If I missed a model, please post it up!

Of the phones listed, my vote goes to the hd-25 for sound quality and Technics rp-dj1200 for dj usabliity.

Another good pair i like is the hd-280, but they are big and it's easy to break it's headband.

I just love how the rp-dj1200s feel on my head, and i love it's swivel design. The only things i don't like about it is it's superauriel earcups and it doesn't sound nearly as good as my pair of hd-280s. Other than that, Mine has been beaten for over a year now and it still works as good as the day i got it. That's a big plus for me b/c i seem to break around 1-2 pairs every 6months or so.

I personally have those Sony's and would highly recommend them. They are as loud and clear as you would need.

hdj1000 all the way

I use Technics RP-DJ1200A mainly for a lengthy set. Overall comfort and performance of these headphones is near perfect. No distortions as of yet to either treble or bass. Not too big & bulky compared to the the Sony MDR-V700DJ or Sennheiser HD-280 (both of which I use mainly for indoor usage)

Still waiting for a good deal on the Sennheiser HD-25 which I reckon will rank tops amongst the list you've posted there. (except for no extended corded-wires on the HD-25)

i like the sony mdr 7506

STanton Pro-Dj 3000

i have the statons and they are great for hesads who are fed up with sonys, but love the shape/design.... me.

quality is better, more lil gadgets, and they look hot. removable corde and L shaped plug. the 2 things that broke first on my sonys.(their straight plug and shitty cord)

and they come in a black velvet case.. which is bigger than the plastic bag sony gives u

im using them right now
(A tribe called quest - can i kick it)

Posted by hooj1 on Jan-19-2005 05:52:

I'd pick the Senns. But I like my 7506's more.

Posted by don_q on Jan-19-2005 05:55:

The headphones I've had have the same earcup material as it appears on those Techs, and with my sweaty ears it kinda decomposes. Then I have black shitty things stuck all over my neck and face. It Sucks!!!!
I want headphones without that problem.

Anybody with that experience?

Posted by Allied Nations on Jan-19-2005 05:55:

i was to buy a different pair, id get the v6 from sony. hardcore headphone. i may still buy a pair

Posted by Tegu on Jan-19-2005 06:06:

i'm getting sick of these 'what headphones should i buy?' threads

want a definitive answer?
buy the hdj1000

I posted up an excellent comparison...if you want some real facts to go on instead of opinion, read that. it comapres every model you have named so far. it will also recommend you get the HDJ1000 like I did.

I ACUTALLY OWN the HDJ1000 and I love it. the sound and build quality is seriously incredible. best headphone i've used to date. and i've had the sony V6 before.

No one's going to reach a concensus on which headphone is best so ur better off reading the comparison i posted as it's an objective test. hope this helps.

Sony MDR v7506

ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUES

Posted by Nemesis44 on Jan-19-2005 14:05:

I use the HD25s and find that for club use there is no comparison.
The main thing I look for is isolation and these babies give the best in my opinion.
Good clear sound too.

Cheers

personally i have the sony mdr-v700 and they are the dogs danglies, the best head phones ever i will never buy another make/model as long as they keep making these thats how good they are!

Posted by dex316 on Jan-19-2005 14:29:

ive got a pair of hd 25's (bought on advice from this forum) and i'd recommend them to anyone. the isolation is really good, great sound quality and comfy - what more could you want??

i havent tried any of the others so cant compare but u certainly wont be disappointed with them

Posted by -Aw01- on Jan-19-2005 16:53:

I believe that the sony mdr 700s are best having used them
i have also used both the hd 25s and the techniques 1200s
only down side to sonys is they like to break at the swival
on both pairs i owned but sound top

agreed

so loud without the overbearing bass and with crystal clear sound. and they're fairly light.

i love mine.

stanton 3000, i love everything about them, except that the plastic extending pieces are VERY VERY frail.

I was moving my hair and it snapped last week,

Posted by Exodus17 on Jan-19-2005 18:41:

Sony V600 as of now, Stanton 3000s as soon as my GF's dad gets em in

Posted by Mr. Tippy on Jan-20-2005 01:40:

I've used the HDJ1000's, MDR700's and HD25's from that list.

HD25's all the way.

Posted by Greedy on Jan-20-2005 02:28:

i would get the hd25s in a heartbeat if i lived in europe.

Posted by razzi on Jan-20-2005 03:41:

i have v700s and i definitely recommend them. they might not have the best sound quality, but when youre in a club and everything is at what seems like 200 dB, these perform extremely well. if you get them, just take care of them, make sure they dont break.

razzi.
