Exclamation Official TOTA Australian Open Tennis

Okay kiddies,

So who the hell here is a madd tennis fan like myself ?

The Australian Open began yesturday on Monday and looks like this could be another all-Russian final. (sarcastic)

Myself, I am disappointed that my FAVOURITE women's tennis player Justine Henin-Hardenne is not in this Grand Slam because of knee problems

But my 2nd favourite player Maria Sharapova is in, and currently watching her right now play against Lindsay Lee-Waters... and she's kicking ass! Slow start, but she's just hauling ass all over this 2nd set!

Her power is just shinning through! Thank god tennis coverage is BACK in Canada again... the Australian Open is always my favourite Grand Slam!!!

On the mens side, I am of course cheering for Andre Agassi or Roddick... I go back and forth between these 2 guys...

I just hope Federer doesn't take this Slam (not sure how much hope of that their is) or I'd be nice to see Hewitt take this one for his country!

So TOTA tennis fans out there, whut are your thoughts so far on how shit's progressing ? Who are your favs for this grand slam ?

Love the tennis!! Used to play a lot in highschool (4 years, #1 for a bit, captain senior year).

I really don't watch men's tennis anymore, i prefer the women's game. Jem-Hadar, you and I have the same two favorite players Sharapova and Henin-Hardenne! But I favor sharapova

EDIT: Henin-Hardenne does have a sweeeeet backhand tho!

Ohh yah, i hate Roddick, i hope he loses.

Posted by Jem_hadar on Jan-19-2005 06:15:

Maria Sharapova just defeated Lindsay Lee-Waters in 1h47mins 4-6, 6-0, 6-3

It was hard earned too... Lindsay put up some fantastic resistance, esp. at the end and Sharapova was fighting for those match points!

Where's my hot brunette tennis girlie?

Come on now.

OMG

Justine's one-handed backhand is the MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE

Watching that girl's backhand is trully an experience. She has so much fuckin power in it its unbelieveable.

Her backhand is actually what made her my favourite female tennis player in the first place... its so smooth... and the angles she can get off it... i love seeing her stuff oponents with that killer backhand! Her forehand has become pretty strong too in 2004... its too bad she had to sit this open out... she took it last year

Just replace Roddick's name with EITHER of the damned Williams' sisters names (ESPECIALLY Serena... god do i EVER hate her!!!!!!)

Those two women are so annoying to watch... ugh! Just talking about them puts in me in a negative mood!!

Hmmmm... Agassi vs. Schuettler... should I stay up till 2am to watch this or just pass out now oh the choices.................

Sharapova CAN play DAMN well, ESPECIALLY for being on 17 years old. Shes seeded 4th in this grand slam and ranked in the no. 4 position by the WTA as well!!!

This girl is doing so phenominal and has so much room to be a great... shes still growing into her body. Shes very tall , which in tennis gives you a fantastic advantage (for power and shots), and shes only going to get faster and stronger as she continues to grow...

I predict she'll be a up there with the greats one day (Graff, Seles, etc. etc.)

I dont think ANYONE will ever capture and minds (and hearts?!) as Anna Kournikova did... my god!

I think Anna is done for good tho... was it last year or the year before ? I think it was in 2003 she pulled outta the Wimbledon at the last minute due to problems with her legs or knees... and as far as i know, she hasn't play a match (not a grand slam anyways) since!

THat girl is HOT has hell tho... i have her 2005 Calander on the wall above my computer monitor!!! its a beautiful sight!!

didn't she win Wimbeldon last year ?

Anna Kournikova has never won a grand slam title

Indeed (on both of the above accounts!)

and Myskina (one of the OTHER Russians... definitely one of the better ones too... personally i think Myskina and Sharapova are the best of the bunch... Sharapova being the UNDENIABLY HOTTEST/CUTTEST one of the pack... shes just so cute!! OMG!) took the French Open!

Posted by Jem_hadar on Jan-19-2005 22:43:

Coverage of the Australian Open resumes on TSN (up here anyways) at 9:30pm

Ill be in front of my television set... who else?!?!?

Yea and she had to go through one of the williams sisters to do it! (don't remember which one, but who really cares )

Henin-Hardenne's backhand is what makes me love her game soo much as well I could never get the one-handed backhand down tho..

Posted by VERTiG0 on Jan-20-2005 02:45:

Okay seriously guys I'm still waiting for my dark haired tennis lady pics

It was Serena (uck! gag!)

Im right there with you on Henin-Hardenne's backhand, its so gracefull and elegant to watch... i cant get enough of it... so fuckn powerfull too for a one-handed... its a marvel to witness... one of the trully beautiful things ppl can see if they watch tennis!

(besides the VERY obvious... )

Posted by Sly_Guy on Jan-20-2005 03:18:

the australian open is the only major I don't watch. This year might be different due to the lack of hockey season.

Posted by Jem_hadar on Jan-20-2005 03:19:

Okay:

Lindsay Davenport (gawd! do i ever hate her too ) just defeated Michaela Pastikova (one of the many russians...) 2-6, 6-2, 6-2

So unfortunately she'll be moving on

And up next is........ Venus Williams... god is tennis tonight ever not doing it for me!!
