want to know whats so funny about being in IT

my co-worker dished me over 3,000 ISBN's to check and sort in owning divisions based on my company. so 4 main owning divisions need to be identified and he recommended the best way to find out is to "key each one individually" into our database and see what the owning division is and type it in a field allocated in an excel spreadsheet. haha i laughed inside and told him it'll take me about a week to do it. (yea fukin right im keying in 3,000 ISBN's) so i load my 3,000 ISBN's in MS Access, connect to mysql database (or master product database) and run a conditioned query and walla, all 3,000 ISBN's sorted by owning division in individual excel worksheet tabs...god i love geeking out...

it's how to get ahead of the corporate fucktards who think they are far superior by handing you busy work just so they can powertrip and delegate bullshit assignments. it's the geeks way of saying FUCK YOU PAY ME!

Seems we get these threads every week. I'm pretty damn bored myself.

Here's a pretty stupid game that can get addicting:

http://www.big-boys.com/articles/throwpaper.html

My highest score is 22 in a row. Tough to beat that! Shows how bored I am today.

No, let me ask you a question. When you came pulling in here, did you see a sign out in front of my house that said "Dead ****** Storage?"

Jimmie, you know I ain't seen no...

Did you see a sign out in front of my house that said "Dead ****** Storage?"

No. I didn't.

You know WHY you didn't see that sign?

Why?

'Cause it ain't there, 'cause storing dead ******s ain't my fucking business, that's why!

I second this thought!! Well the more you know the better for you in the long run. Thats how people become promoted to management. Here I dont give anyone any deadlines and they dont give me deadlines either, not even my supervisor asks me. When I first started here I was working too fast so he told me to pace myself. I now understand what he meant. I am way overloaded according to them now. I could do everything I had here probably within a half day or so given that I also have other tasks that need to be performed daily but I leave piles of work on my desk just to decorate it some. An empty desk is a sign of wanting more work, and the more swamped you look the less they hand you. Plus half the stuff on the desk is complete, they just dont know it yet

Fabulous......now that's a super smart girl!!

Hiya! I'm regularly bored, too. Thank God for TA! You know, it was your last visit up here that prompted me to start posting!

You can PM me all day if you like, sweets! I'm apartment hunting with Niall tonight, in Nat and Graham's hood. We're looking for a 1 bedroom, and so far, everythings cheaper than what we've been paying! I had an interview for an on-air radio job last week (still waiting to hear - I only got the interview because my hubby's last name is Jack, and the station is JACK FM), and another interview tomorrow! Looks like there's a little light at the end of the crappy job tunnel! Both are within the same company, just completely different divisions, so I won't lose my 3 weeks vacation that I've worked two years to accumulate!

It's cold here today! Minus 10 (feels like minus 30 with the wind chill). How's the weather in the Big Apple?

bingooo listen to the girl she's a smart one!
climb the corporate ladder before they try and fuck you over...

get this one, my co-worker (or in his eyes is my direct supervisor) felt the need to express to me that i am UNORGANIZED. He said it as blunt as he can be and i got ultra offended. I felt it was his way of saying be more organized so i can delegate you more shit work to do. i swear i hate when people sleep on me thinking im some admin assistant position when really infact they are threatened by my youth and superior knowledge in the digital world which infact is driving the extremities of this past time classic. publishing has yet to reach the digital relm in which advances in technology allows it to do so without harboring infringement rights or copyright laws. we will pave the way in which you read without having to pick up and turn pages. we will deliver the same text genre's without using ink or chopping down trees. Introduce a new form of online purchasing or read-before-you-buy mentality simulating walking into a book store reading a few pages and then buying the book.

i will not be supressed by those middle managers yearning to move up the corporate ladder by assigning a mere peasant to file his folders. i will not give into threats on my position as I have became an asset to this company. And when the smoke clears and my accomplishments are visible, i'll simply say FUCK YOU PAY ME or I walk with the whole infrastructure that is leading this company in the right direction. I say fuck you to corporate heirarchy - let the genius prosper and receive the commendments they deserve.

(as you can tell I have held in enough steam in "6 months" of working at this place)

yeah somehow the workplace just always aggravates people ehhe. within one month here i was already getting impatient with the place. this is a small company too so you would think the environment was casual but the boss is madd picky and everyone kinda has something to complain about the way its run. i see too many inefficiencies but im not gonna bend over backwards to correct stuff. I know my job and i do it way better than my predecessor thats all i care about. I could be looking for another job but right now im too lazy to look and hey its direct deposit into my bank account every two weeks. gotta love that direct deposit -- and im on TA and email most of the time....ehhe everyone feel free to pm me too ehheh
