What do you think of Essential Underground 9?
I just bought on the advice of Tu_face, Essential Underground 9 - Stockholm mixed by Adam Beyer. I wondered what other people's opinions were about this CD, I think it is just mean as feck and a good techno mix. Opinions?
Not heard the CD, but heard most of the tracks. CD 1 will probably work well on the dancefloor, but as always I fail to see the point of listening to 20 loop techno records on my home stereo. They are meant to be blasted on a huge fuck off rig in an empty warehouse.
CD 2 is where things get interesting for me. Here Adam has gone for a more deeper and experimental route, with all the good, experimental techno from his swedish colleagues as well as the infamous 2 Dollar Egg. Varied and different, just like I like my techno at home to be.
Looks like a solid document of what Adam's sets sound like, and that's ultimately what this CD is supposed to be.
haven't heard it yet but t/l looks pretty decent. thank g-d he employed Voorn's "Shining," rather than the overhyped "Incident" tho..
For the lazy people: http://www.discogs.com/release/316977
i heard both cd's and i like it, cd1 for it's fullon actiona dn mint tracks and cd2 for it's more experimental approach, the mixing is good, all & all pretty good
I really loved this cd compilation.
CD1 - Really good track selection and very good use of 3 deck mixing! I think Adam Beyer is a genius when it comes to selecting tracks that go together.
Really loved it when he played Dave Clark - Just Ride, very spacey and dreamy, really enjoyed it.
when he mixes:
Hertz - Breaker +
Adam Beyer - Remainings III +
Killa Productions(AKA Ben Sims) - Women Beat Their Men, that was a really nice part of the set, really liked how well they have flowed together, Ive even mixed those 3 on my own sets, works well
Really enjoyed how he ended the cd with Adam Beyer & Lenk feat. Tiga - Heartbreak, I crave that beat and stabby vocals, great tune!
My only gripe with cd1 was that, he inserted a few annoying tunes to the mix, such as Alter Ego - Rocker, the tune isnt too bad, but the grindy noise gets on my nerves after a while
CD2 - This mix is more minimal and spacey. Cirez D - Deep Inside is a great tune, love the synths, sadly the Adam Beyer and Joel Mull Remix is a dissappointment. Also the Mr. Rogers samples in 'John Spring - Dispo Dancer," are awesome.
Overall CD1 is the best becuase of its great track selection and Bangin' relief.
theres my 2cents, its a definetly great collection of good techno
i love this CD, excellent compilation!
Adam beyer rocked last weekend,
i think cd1 is quality techno. i copied jeffs cd when he had it around me house, mwuahahahaha.
