Synaesthesia Synth Question

I was wondering how the main synth lead to Synaesthesia is made, I know it's made with 3 layers. But I know know the automation.

Here is the sample, thank god the original plays it solo.

i'll give it a shot tomorrow after my final

That's cool thx.

A multi chord melody, JP8000, either manual automation on the filter or via LFO.

That song makes me want to cry...and I'm not a sentimental person.

I can't hear 3 layers of sounds, but the one I can hear is an 3 notes chord I guess, and the sound changes with an LFO routed to band pass filter.

There's a delay effect too (Trance with delay? I've never seen that before - just kiding )...

i hear a simple LPF

I hear a simple supersaw, filtered, with a phaser on it.

Posted by Dj Pyster on Jan-22-2005 08:29:

It has 3 layers in it, one follows the melody, one follows the bassline and one has 2 notes in it.

Download the midi song, it definately has 3 layers in it.

Nontheless though the song is beautiful, all the remixes, even the Ferry Corsten remix make me happy.

Where can I find the midi?

If You put 3 notes stacked, then you have 3 layered notes... it's the same of an chord (triad)...

But, maybe I'm wrong, when I see the midi I can tell you.

Sticky in the top or www.trance-midi.tk

Thinking now more about it...

Example: if you play an Grand Piano with 7 notes...

It's a big chord , with a lot of 5th, 11th...etc, or it's an 7 layers sound?

What I'm hearing on this sample is one kind of sound, played with 2 or 3 notes....

Layer is: Piano with an background pad... lead with bass...
The same sound played twice with diferent notes is an chord (or some kind of arpeggio)...

But, this is my opinion, and this won't change anything hehe.

But anyway, very beatiful music...

ok.. here's my 15 minutes attempt for this sound: http://www.solarproject.ch/linked/t...recreation).mp3

and as already mentioned it's really the lfo which does the trick with a second filter envelope.

sounds really great..

Posted by Zombie0729 on Jan-22-2005 19:30:

i got the sound and everything, but my automation is not coming out the way i want. i used albino

Posted by Dj Pyster on Jan-22-2005 22:21:

Do you guys think that any other VSTi can make the same sound, like Z3ta or Pro-53?

Posted by State of Matter on Jan-22-2005 22:55:

Pro 53 can make that sound for sure. Supersaw, triangle wave LFO with low frequency controlling the filter, maybe a little bit of phaser to bring it out.

Posted by FrancoR on Jan-23-2005 00:02:

and then, is an lfo, hfl or phasher?

Posted by Dj Pyster on Jan-23-2005 01:06:

I think it's a phaser that's applyed to the main synth, the 2nd layer has no effects to it, it sounds like a slightly detuned saw, I can't really tell what the root note fx are.

access virus b .. but it should be possible with almost any other VA and unison. i'll give some softsynths a try tomorrow.

Posted by DickieThijssen on Jan-23-2005 03:36:

cool

Posted by kozbiol on Jan-23-2005 11:28:

>>THIS<< is maked in FM7. it takes me 10 minutes to program that sound so i know it is not perfect, but if u put some eq&comp it could be like in synaesthia.

Posted by Michelangelo on Jan-23-2005 12:08:

you can make this sound in zeta too

the filter must set up to 12db low pass and put off cutoff
push reso a little bit and activate the reso bst

over the modulation matrix can you automate this with random effect
Example:

Source___|_RANGE_|_CURVE_|_CONTROl_|_DESTINATION
ON_______|_FULL__|________|_VELOC___|_ALL FILTERS CUTOFF
U-RANDOM_|_FULL__|_FAST+_|_VELOC___|_ALL FILTERS CUTOFF

ok, it sounds not 100% same as the synaesthesia effect but it sounds not bad

ok, here is a [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
made with fruity
i hope it works
