| LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Conservative Christian groups accuse the makers of a video starring SpongeBob SquarePants, Barney and a host of other cartoon characters of promoting homosexuality to children. The wacky square yellow SpongeBob is one of the stars of a music video due to be sent to 61,000 U.S. schools in March. The makers -- the nonprofit We Are Family Foundation -- say the video is designed to encourage tolerance and diversity. But at least two Christian activist groups say the innocent cartoon characters are being exploited to promote the acceptance of homosexuality. "A short step beneath the surface reveals that one of the differences being celebrated is homosexuality," wrote Ed Vitagliano in an article for the American Family Association. |
I always knew something was up with him.
Guess we need a Constitutional Amendment banning Spongebob. That would be the best to go to chruch and hear a "fire & brimstone" sermon about different cartoon characters being representatives of the devil.
Are you denying the fact that Spongebob is, quite possibly, the gayest animated character ever created?
Least his name isn't spongbob (spong being another name for spunk in some parts here).
He's a bit spazzy but apart from that his dress sence is far too bad. He wears the same thing all the time. Also all his close friends are not female.
Thus he can't be a fudge packer.
This storey was auctually on the main Irish TV news last night...i couldnt believe it...i think its the first time ive seen cartoon characters on irish news broadcasts...they quickly dismissed the storey as being led by a bunch of cranks in the US...
Barney looks a bit gay imo...
You left out the best part:

Christian groups however have taken exception to the tolerance pledge on the foundation's Web site, which asks people to respect the sexual identity of others along with their abilities, beliefs, culture and race. "Their inclusion of the reference to 'sexual identity" within their 'tolerance pledge' is not only unnecessary, but it crosses a moral line," James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, said in a statement released Thursday. |
Of course he's gay. Just look at his eyelashes. Can he get more gay?
And while we're on the topic, why is there no Mrs. Squarepants?

I thought the purple Teletubbie was supposed to be the most obvious one. I guess they can all have an outing party with Rep. Drier sometime.
Are they gonna boycott his show now?
What a joke.

Never noticed

| Originally posted by wolverine16 I think that his name is Bob Camp and he clearly did a lot of drugs in his day. I'm still shocked that parents never protested Ren & Stimpy since half their episodes seemed like they were out of their minds, not to mention the questions surrounding their sexuality. They should look into that Bugs Bunny guy too, since he did wear dresses to disguise himself sometimes. Kids should only be allowed to watch the 700 Club from now on! |

| Originally posted by Shakka I think Spongebob is a little more transparent. Ren and Stimpy were the modern day Ithcy & Scratchy, Tom & Jerry, Frick & Frack, etc. |
So now that we are on the topic, was Pinky from Pinky & the Brain also gay? What about Wakko? Or Yakko?

Fruity sweet wrappers spark complaint
Students at a Catholic school complained about new Haribo sweet wrappers which they claim portray fruit having sex.
Graduates from St Blasien Jesuit College, near Freiburg, were complaining about the new wrappers for Haribo's Maoam sweets.
In a letter to the firm, they wrote: "We are shocked at the shameless presentation of sexual practices on the wrapping, which includes not only sexual intercourse but also fellatio and cunnilingus."

The letter added: "It's irresponsible, to expose children to such pornographic representations."
The sweets wrapped in bright yellow, red and green colours show lemons, limes, strawberries, cherries and oranges romping with each other.
The students were especially opposed to the lemon flavoured chews, which "undoubtedly show a green figure having sex with a lemon".
"The lemon, which from the drawing looks female, is obviously enjoying it with the greatest of pleasure."
Haribo bosses admit the new packaging is "very racy", but said in tests no complaints had been raised.
Spokesman Marco Alfter said: "The new wrapping is certainly fruitier than the old. But we have not had any other complaints. In fact until now the feedback has all been positive."

Why do some people just love blaming everything they see
