They should ban clubs and nightlife because.........

OK. Everyone who is always making excuses as to why they should ban things should have no trouble filling in the blanks here. Banning clubs is actually quite an easy arguement if you follow the reasoning behind other bans that are currently happening.

So how about it? Let's see everyone apply the same logic of banning everything else to something that they love do to.

Posted by RandomGirl on Jan-21-2005 23:45:

I personally wouldn't want any clubs or bars to be banned, however I do see very good reason for it to happen.

However, at the same time, I see a good reason to keep them as well.

I suppose it all boils down to whether the positives out-weigh the negatives or not.

would you please get back on the lazers and guv and shhhhh this nonsense

Clubs are societies poison. Look at how many people have died in clubs due to stabbings, shootings, OD'ing!! It's obvious that this is a threat to our perfect society...and thus, should be eliminated.

Posted by Pett on Jan-21-2005 23:48:

look how many more people got killed by suv's whats your point?

Posted by infinity HiGH on Jan-21-2005 23:51:

My point is sarcasm.

Whats yours?

At the same time though, they do provide a very huge outlet to entertainment, and social activity. It is a large stimulant to the populus, and brings in a lot of jobs, and tax money.

Posted by RandomGirl on Jan-21-2005 23:54:

Ermmm, sorry I didn't pick up the sarcasm... considering what you said is pretty well true.

i think alchol should be banned because its poisonous for the body and people tend to drink while on it.

however if we bann alchol there will still be bootlegging and people will still drive drunk. i say we bann car while we're at it

Well fuck me... you tend to drink when on alcohol... Somebody call some scientists to observe this unusual behaviour when on alcohol

Posted by j_spot on Jan-22-2005 00:58:

heres where youre wrong
pitbulls-attack other people
smoking- you can still smoke, just not in people workplace
SUVs-dangerous vehicles to everybody else on the road. insane consumption of a non renewable ressource.
clubbing-can only hurt yourself
drinking-only hurt yourself
guns-they arent banned, just the ones that arent needed (what is the personal use of an assault rifle?)

To blow the fuck out of shit

...I've got nothin. Sorry

-alcohol affects others because if you drink and drive then you might hurt someone.
-You can get into a fight at a club

..and many more examples that im sure the people with the control arguement about other things will easily come up with.

-Pitbulls like clubs provide entertainment and companionship
-Smoking like alcohol provides a drug as a relaxant
-SUVs like clubs serve a societal purpose even if they are a voyage into the world of the excess

how can you apply your flawed logic to one set of examples (that dont affect you) and not to the other that does?

When the pitbull is ripping your face off, it's not the nicest form of companionship. You can still smoke all you like, but now it's respecting the non-smokers and not subjecting them to it. SUV's can easily be replaced with something more efficient and o-zone friendly .

It is people like you who do not want anything to change that will keep things the same way: going straight to the toilet. If you hadn't noticed, our society and planet are in a shambles, and finally someone is trying to patch things up. Change is not necessarily a bad thing.

Lets ban planet Earth

edit: The difference is: you were being sarcastic and he was being serious!

If we sit back and let people take away the things away - They will!!!

Clubs will not be banned because they are a major tourist attraction in the city. The Toronto clubbing scene is becoming more popular every year. To ban clubs and nightlife would be like banning theatres, concerts and other forms of entertainment. WHat would be the point of that.

Change is a good thing but not when:

1) its for the sake of change
2) it's over correcting the original "problem"
3) it creates more problems than it solves (such as trampling on someone's rights)

Last i checked most dogs have the ability to "rip your face off". As for not subjecting smokers to smoke, thats what smoking rooms and patio smoking were for. And SUVs? Well i hope you dont ever drive in a personal automobile sista because i'm now telling you to practice what you preach and ALWAYS take transit.

Posted by Jayx1 on Jan-22-2005 18:51:

I still havnt seen any compelling arguements as to why clubs should be banned. It's not that easy to find problems (or admit to them) when it's something you like to do is it?

Im willing to bet we could find dozens of religious organizations, lobbyests and joe publics who have never set foot in a club (much like no one here owns pit bulls nor SUVs) that could give you a million reasons why they should be shut.
