ALT+F4 - ALT+F4 (astral energy tech mix) - no more mud

yeah loved the melody, so i though hey why not remix it. What do you guys think ? So here it is the ideas are there please leave some thoughful feedback.

WELL, after seeing all the negative feedback about the track i didnt touch it for a while. BUT dj blighty from holland wanted it so i finished it and cleaned it up change it up a little bit .. I changed the muddines, and some part of the track to make it more dj friendly.

good job... it sounds a little muddy though... maybe its the bitrate...

Posted by Stino on Jan-22-2005 11:45:

sounds extremely muddy and thats not the bitrate but the awfull eqing and mastering. Nothing special too, i dont see any bangin tech about this...its just a remake of the original.

Posted by AstralNrg on Jan-22-2005 19:18:

yeah i mastered with shity speakers hat have no subwoofer , thats why i think its so muddy. I tried to make it sorta techy and bangin ? The other version was more chill.

synthwork is cool, elements are fine

CLEAN THIS MIX UP , you need to eq the fuck out of this one

Posted by mezzir on Jan-22-2005 21:32:

agree with all of the above, plus in the whole first half (before the breakdown) i feel like the offbeat bass is the wrong note, should be a whole step lower
might be because it finally resolves, but holding off a resolution for like 3 minutes just ends up sounding bad
overall nice work though

Posted by AstralNrg on Jan-22-2005 23:03:

thanks for the feedback , i knew the eq'ing is bad and stuff ,i just wanted to see if people liked this idea.

u used really nice synths, only, its been said i know, muddyness... loved the warmth of the synths and the atmosphere throughout the entire track though

Posted by State of Matter on Jan-23-2005 07:45:

Yup, I agree with everything here. The muddiness kills those excellent synths you've got going. Remaster this and you've got a class track.

muddy..but good job..I enjoyed this track a lot...

Posted by DJ-Dank-Poo on Jan-23-2005 17:37:

+most of whats said above, about it being muddy and all. the offbeat part sounds alright to me. i like this track.

-this isn't really what i had in mind when you put "bangin tech" in the subject. also, imo it sounds too much like the original, it doesn't seem like you did anything to make it sound unique. maybe add some more elements then build the sequences different. but definitly try some parametric EQing and some compression. good luck!

Posted by DJ-Kreing^^ on Jan-23-2005 20:11:

It's not bad, agree with the above about the whole thing being abit muddy. The main lead sound to distorted for me, way to much white noise.

You could do better tough I'm sure, looking forward to some new original material from you.

Posted by DjCommisad on Jan-25-2005 06:42:

after reading the comments, and getting a special request to be played at arise.. I have reshaped it a little bit

enjoy!

thanks for the comments

Some good ideas here, i feel the track is let down totally by the lack of drive within the bass, just fills like a filler track. When the track comes back after the breakdown jus feels it lacks something, maybe a sub synth or something to keep it there

Posted by Mike_Foyle on Jan-28-2005 08:14:

umm, the eq really isnt as bad as some of you guys are saying! i read all the comments and expected this to be utter shit, its not. i can hear the tech influence in here, i think the filter on the main synth opens up too much, hence the dirty, trebley hiss whcih is probably why alot of people say it sounds muddy. Also the kick has very little power, give it some more sub! at the breakbeat section, too simple for me, im a fan of complex breakbeats, and where does everything go when that comes in? its like it all totally drops then the beat and bass come back in. work on adding more elements to the track, maybe make the transitions from phrase to phrase a little smoother, and certainly give the whole track a bit of a bass boost

nice effort

ok here what you need to do drop a parametric on the master out channel load preset delete anyhting above 20khz and anything below 20hz. now lower the volumes on your percussion id suggest doing some panning effects on it slap some low reverb on your hats maybe a delay. now load a stero splitter/ enhancer plugin throw it in a fx send route some of your synths through it and do some stero tricks and then add some automated panning either that our link a lfo to panning. now get a good kick a strong one. one that rattles in 4/4. now load it into the mixer give it a bass boost boost all the lower end. make sure it thumps. and then use the kick you have now with it but eq them together better. and it should create a more techier sounding track becuase the kick in it now is way too cheezey.

quarry

you have the wright ingreidents for a monster, i think mabey the build up has too much going on, an eq are all over the place, good attempt also the bass line seems a little flat
not a bad attempt

Posted by Luke Terry on Feb-03-2005 17:09:

i think this is rather cool

it does need some eq work and the transitions need to be a lot smoother.

percs need thickening, they actually sound out of time during the breaks at the end

some of the synth programming is mint tho

Posted by AstralNrg on Feb-03-2005 18:58:

thanks for the replies dudes, hopefully my mixes will be much better since i just purchased studio monitors.. Imo my remix of alt+f4 cant touch my originals. So if you like what you heard stay tuned for more.

Posted by scAza on Feb-03-2005 22:36:

i like it! I agree about the beat needing to "thud" a bit more, and the highs sound too waterry in parts, clean it up a bit tho i think it would b brilliant

good luck
