Iv got this old sansui stereo system and it only ses max power: 40w, now im confused what is max power, watts rms and watts because i thaught max power and rms where kinda the same thing but iv been told thats wrong.

Maximum output is the maximum peak output it can manage. RMS is kind of like maximum average output level. As far as I know.
