You're in luck DJing requires little to no skill

All you need is 2 turntables, mixer, vinyls, and 2 hands.

Two turntables and a microphone.

Where it's at!

youll only benefit from know how to play musical instruments if you want to produce. naturally, the piano would be your best bet for that.

DJing is easy peasy compared to anything else.

Hi friend.

Do not listen to these non djs. I dj regularly and let me tell you it is tough. One of the hardest things ever. It really helps if you are double jointed in the waist, or have ribs removed.

record shops are a good place to find...well records obviously. not to mention the hundreds of dj friendly websites out there. here's a start for ya www.chemical-records.co.uk ...and again the instrument thing would help, but its not gonna hurt if you dont knwo how to play. i was a drummer before i started spinning so beatmatching was real easy for me. and yeah you gotta be double jointed in the hip

Posted by Scanate on Jan-24-2005 19:53:

hem you need turntables and aa mixer i think lol

Posted by kr00t0n on Jan-24-2005 20:00:

Decent grammar and spelling doesn't hurt either

I STARTED WITH 2 Technics 1200's and a yahmaha mixer, with a pevy amp and a pevy box with 4'12inch speackers in it. Also I would invest in a really good pair of headphones and a good mic. Just to start with. Then find the harest tracks to blend toghter and blend them constently until you can get them perfect.

double jointed , defintaley nessesary, dont waste your time if your not.

I started out with two very basic turntables and a extremerly basic mixer. You dont need to learn any instrument if you just want to mix. But later you'll be like. I want to start making some kick ass tracks, then paino can help and then you just start from there

Ive not been doing mixing long about a year or so. So im no where near the level id like to be

The good thing at the moment is that a lot of people still believe that djs have super special talent, but those of us who have tried it at least once know that is a pile of bull crap.

Look at it this way, do you really want to stand there and mix songs or would you rather be in the crowd dancing with a beautiful girl. I am going for option #2 on this one. There are a million other good ways to make money in this world other than djing.

Anyway, you need to buy two tables (preferably technics), a mixer (preferably Pioneer or Alan and Heath, possibly a Rane), headphones (Sony 700s or a pair of the new technics), needles and cartridges (I recommend Ortofon), and slipmats if they didn't come with your tables.

For records, try local shops and internet sites:
www.dancerecords.com
www.dancegrooves.com
www.juno.co.uk
www.gemm.com (search engine style, can't listen there)
www.htfr.com
www.sateliterecords.com

Or option three, doing lines of coke on the vinyl as it goes in circles while getting a blowjob underneath the decks from a very hot female.

There are three tiers in the DJ pyramid:

1st tier is made up of a select few super stars at the top like oakey, pvd, etc.

2nd tier is home of the blue collar DJs who are know locally but will never go anywhere because of their mediocrity or lack of connections.

3rd and last tier (at the bottom) is made up of an army of weekend wannabees whose goal is to impress girls and their friends in their basement with their "mad skillz".

Welcome to the 3rd tier my friend

i'd rather be up on the decks moving the crowd and makin hundreds of ppl get their groove on

so you can stick with your one girl while the dj sticks with his group of girls
