Godskitchen Chicago

(pssst) Sound bar is kicking your ass.

2/4 vs 2/5 Jules vs LLV & doc (close call...unless house is your thing)
2/11 vs 2/12 Blank and Jones vs Deep Dish (ummmm tough one...not)
2/18 vs 2/19 Robbie Rivera & Alex Peace vs terry francis & eddie richards (snoozer, they've got you covered. Take the favorites and give up the points)

Sound Bar wakes up with:

2/25 hell & traxx
3/4 porter
3/1 Zabiela
3/18 warren
3/25 sven
3/30 digweed
4/8 howells

Sound bar blows, but that's 7 in a row they fire off. I guess Vision can always just move Laura B back to the main room.

GK does not tend to post their lineups until the month before. And the only date you have shown in the same timeframe as the announced GK dates is "hell and traxx".

I say wait at least until the march lineups are out to make a comment. Last March @ Spundae was killer, I am sure they won't disappoint.

What's the point of this thread?

Posted by mb2004 on Jan-26-2005 17:09:

not same time frame? That's 3 weeks friday vs. Saturday.

add G&d Vs hell & traxx and you get another thumping.

Point is godkitchen events so far seem closer to godsbathroom with the crap getting booked. Point also is that March had better be great because of March at Soundbar. Didn't think that was too hard to figure out. To say Spundae March was killer last year isn't valid since Godskitchen and Spundae aren't the same regardless of if the same people book locally.

Posted by ctprincess on Jan-26-2005 18:38:

^^ok, but i still don't understand the point of this thread.

you don't like who GK is booking - don't go the shows then.

Posted by wolverine16 on Jan-26-2005 19:00:

The Soundbar lineup for March IS unbelievable, but Godskitchen will have some good shows in March as well once they announce their schedule. A lot of the bigger names are in South America or Austrailia right now if they are on tour, as it's summer there.

Soundbar tends to have more good prog shows while Vision seems to have more good trance shows, so it greatly depends what you're into.

As far as you can compare the schedule so far with similar dates, I'm only going to one at each place, which is on consecutive days.

Wait GK is bringing back G&D on Feb 26th.

Posted by jonze on Jan-27-2005 06:26:

is this like a challenge or something? i think both venues/promotional companies do a good job of bringing in talent and we are lucky to have two good places that have shows. honestly, i hate having to choose between going to sound-bar or vision because they both have two good djs booked that particular weekend.

target is better than walmart.

boston store is better than sears.

I would hate to have to choose between soundbar or vision on one night. Theres been plenty of back-to-back soundbar-vision nights (Sander/PVD, Mauro/Marco, hernan/flemming, pvd/holden, infusion/ferry). I would be pissed if any of these shows were on the same night.

update:

3/18 3/19 warren vs cox (cox wins....only good warren night, ever, was night he had to borrow records cuz his didnt show up)

DOoD

Hey why are you turning this into a fight, I think both clubs and promoters bring in class djs and live acts. We are lucky to have two really nice clubs! Both offer great RSVP as well, I have not paid to get into a club since Armin back in Oct. and have been out 7-8 times since, you really cant beat that!

Just because you don't like Nick Warren doesn't mean he sucks.

Carl Cox doesn't win anything... ever...

You could put him up against any 13 year old with a copy of the Zabiela remix of "Eli" and I'd say the 13 year old wins simply based on the fact that I heard some music I wanted to hear...

... but then again, this whole "Who likes what DJ?" thing is pretty subjective, huh? I mean, someone could post just below this one something to the effect of "Well I hate anything James Zabiela does, so my guess would be that if you put him up against an embryo that was just fertilized in the womb, I'd probably go see the embryo spin, you know cuz I like downtempo embryonic trance."

Cheers,

RJT

not trying to start a fight. Fact be known I prefer Vision and have no desire to go to sound-bar. That said, the line-ups for Vision are weak in comparision. Also I have nothing against Warren. Have seen him a few times. His studio work and mixes are great. Live though he seems to get blown away. Jody clobbered him twice. Once trashed in a drunken blaze of glory. Had a great set following Superchumbo, but that wasn't with his own records. Also, Cox has his own style. Some like, others do not. 13 year olds you know must be talented. Sign them and get them on tour pronto. Neile, congrats on never paying. Some people do pay and sometimes don't get equal value for cover paid. In your case not paying means value doesn't have to be much to cover your cost. Again not trying to start any web fight. Just out to voice an opinion of mine that the lineups at Sound-bar are much better than Vision. Therefore I'm not happy since Vision is prefered by me to go to.

Smart Bar for house is in a class all it's own.

3/4 Porter Vs Green Velvet and Traxx (would be good one if sound-bar didnt have traxx week before)

lol - I think my point was that I simply do not like Carl Cox - and "I" means prbably me, myself, and only I. I realize he's got a large fan base/good djlist rating (IF that means anything to anyone anymore.), but the fact was just that I don't dig him and what he plays, and so I would rather listen to a BAD DJ spin records I like...

Again, simply my opinion... ^^^Not Fact^^^

Peace, Cheers,

RJT
