-- Ralphie B type acid line.

Ralphie B type acid line.

This one is for all Virus C experts!

I've been trying to create an acid line very similar to the one Ralphie B uses in Massive and his remix of Solarstone's - Solarcoaster. Robert Nickson also uses one very similar to this in his remix of Thomas Datts 2V2. Could anyone give me some advice on how to do this on the Virus C as im having no luck whatsoever! Thanks, Dan.

Robert Nickson uses Reason :]

Are you talking about those techy sounds going high pitch to low pitch and over again?

Might as well post Ralphie B's reply on T.nu here:

its done with a Nord Modular

Use a combination of saw and square wave. Put on a lot of distortion. Use a lot of "saturation" and "punch" (both virus parameters). Open up resonance and try out the cutoff untill the sound starts "shreeking" when u open and close the cutoff.

hope you it worx for u. it's not to difficult though!

greets

From Access Music's website:

How do I emulate a Roland TB-303 with my Virus?

You sell the Virus and buy a Roland TB-303.

Or you can design a patch using a single oscillator (saw or square), two low-pass filters in Ser 4 configuration, filter balance set to 9 o'clock, and a medium decay filter envelope. Dial in some Saturation for the Acid House effect.

You can take it from there.

Once you have this basic setup, play around with different cutoff/resonance setting for both filters, filter balance and filter envelope decay/attack. Don't forget the distortion and/or saturation - it's the key!

P.S. If I have time and desire I might create some acid patches on my Virus PoCo over the weekend, but I'm not sure if they will be compatible with your Virus C.

Would I be correct in assuming I should be able to get a similar sound from Rebirth?

Posted by BIKKEL on Jan-31-2005 16:10:

anyone can make a .rns file of how to archieve this sound?

Posted by djAlexg on Jan-31-2005 17:47:

Posted by CSniper on Jan-31-2005 22:45:

Sorry, would a .wav work?

Virus, I don't think he wanted that

I think he something like the acidy sound effects playing in Thomas Datt - 2v2 (Robert Nickson Remix) which goes up and down every 4 bars (16 beats), not the bassline or the lead, but the same note being played with resonance up-down.

that would not be correct as rebirth emulates the classic tb303 which has only 1 oscillator (here it is saw/square)

Yeah it is! Nickson uses it a lot. Its in the Midway/Ralphie B remix of Solarcoaster too.
