importing Wired samples into other programs...?

I just picked up Intakt's Wired: The Elements of Trance Virtual Soudn Module today and am having trouble exporting the samples into other programs. The file extensions aren't wav files...they're labeled as NKI files...basically I'm trying to figure out how ot change the file type and get all the samples into other programs like FL, Reason or Acid...anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

hmmm, it comes with a VST (kompakt) but it should be possible to open all the content with kontakt too..

i'm not exactly sure what you mean. Basically the folder for the wired program has a really big folder that holds the whole sound library. Again, all the samples have that weird NKT file extension, not wav. Is there a way to convert them or just drop the entire folder into my reason or FGL folder and have the samples load to those programs?

it's a full VST and not only a sample library

Wow! What the hell is this? Is this a VST plug in or a program by itself? Sorry, i dunno much.

it's VST, standalone, RTAS, AU, DX, ... like all the other kompakt/intakt samplers..

right,I understand that. I'm trying to figure out how to take the samples that it comes with and manipulate them in other programs. Or how to import a sound into FL for example after I am done messing with it in the Wired VST program...

Sorry to say, but there is no way to use these samples outside of kontakt/kompakt. The only thing you could do is render the output of the midi/vsti (in this case kompakt) into wav. But this method sucks.
Stupid NI had to encrypt their samples.

similar topic..I was looking into picking up The Ultimate Strings sample cd but noticed that there are two versions...one that consists of AKAI files, and another that are I think gigicamples. Am I gonna have the same problem opening these types of files in other programs?

I know you can easily convert akai to wav and I belive same applies to giga. However, you will have to purchase (maybe there is a free one, not sure) one of the convertor softwares. The most popular ones are: CDXtract, Extreme Sample Converter, and Chickensys Translator.

I must say that it's a crazy world out there when it comes to sample formats. I think there should only be one, WAV.

NKI is Native instruments Kontakt Instrument. Since player included for these sound modules is kompakt, I guess that all samples and programs are within a single file, in order to prevent unauthorized copying. So, these sounds are usable only if you install the included player (Kompakt) as VSTi, and are usable only through that instrument.
You might try converting them with a sample converter, like Extreme Sample Converter or CDXtract, but i do not really think it would work.

giga, akai, nki, even soundfont, are much more than simple wavs. these formats describe INSTRUMENTS, not SAMPLES. i tried once to make an instrument from 30 bare samples of an instrument, and decided to quit after 20 minutes (that was an akai cd which i converted to simple wav by mistake).

nope. refill is not an open format, and propellerheads will do their best to make it stay that way.

ya, true, but I only use samples for drums/percussions/fx. For that wavs are the best. I just need single shots that can be inserted quickly into a sequence. Ofcourse, if you use samples for strings or otehr melodic parts, then wavs is not the way to go.

do you know any other sample format than wav that is being used (except aiff)? no? so, you see, wav already IS the only format used to describe samples only
elements of trance is a collection of layered fx and instruments, so instruments must be defined, not just samples. besides, they have to protect their work somehow, right?

from what I can gather they do offer single instrument sounds, not only layers. Thats what I'm after. I don't really even care about the layered fx etc... I should have done more research before buying the program, but I thought that it would just be a huge sample library.
