Read This! Grammar enlightenment

I've seen this word written the wrong way more times than I've seen it written correctly so I thought I'd get on my smartass-suit and tell everyone the right way.

DEFINITELY - DEFINITE

To make it easy to remember; think of it as 'infinite', but replace the first 'in' with 'de'. Genious?!

Now, repeat after me!

Definitely.
Definite.

And of course, let the flaming commence.

Re: Grammar enlightenment

It's a wonder no one has ever complained about this before.

This gets mentioned every couple of weeks on TA and the trend still persists.

-1 flamebait. (kidding)

Let's get another one out of the way, shall we?

Your v.s. You're.

Your: The possessive form of you.
You're: Contraction of you are.

That semicolon is incorrect there. A colon would work better.

quote:

Genious?!

To help you remember that this word is spelled "genius," recognize that virtually all words ending in "ous" are adjectives. Think about it. How many nouns can you think of that end in "ous" or "ious"?

Also, the correction you've pointed out is a spelling mistake, not a grammar mistake.

Boy, way to go.

And yet again...

Regardless of his own mistakes, at least he is fluent enough in English as a foreign language to be able to point it out to native speakers who are just plain dumbasses

True. There is some REALLY shithouse grammar going on around these forums, not just typos or minor spelling mistakes either. Stuff like people saying "Another words" instead of "in other words"... it does shit me sometimes... but hey it's the internet.

i think phonetic spelling should be allowed on forums. hell we use shortcuts like omg, or pics or stfu, or lol and so on and so forth.

plus I make all the rules about online shit, so I say phonetic spelling is legal. no bitching or you will get stallowned.
