Blackwatch - Skin Deep (Gulf of Tonkin Mix)

Anybody else love this track? Seemingly its as simple and repetitve as trance gets, but for some reason those congas and that single chord pad hypnotize me!

The bassline is awesome too, though very subtle.

The snare seems like a rip-off from Barotek heh.

Yeah, it is a very cool track. Very distant and subtle with some nice deep pads. Blackwatch is highly underrated, IMO. But I'd kind of like to keep it that way.

It doesn't surprise me that the snares sound like Barotek (I'm assuming you mean Blackwatch's Dub), considering both tracks are his productions. I still think I like Barotek and his remix of Strange World just a bit better though.

Oh, BTW, it seems like you and I have the same taste in dance music, which is very cool. I checked out your own work "A Non-Euclidean Simplex" and have to say I enjoyed it very much from the sample you provided. The intro is well done and kind of reminds me of tracks by Randall Jones. Keep up the deep and dark atmospheres. If possible, I'd beef up the bass a bit. The melodies are also tightly produced, a hell of a lot better than all the Markus & Co. watered down McProg saturating the scene right now.

didn't realize "skin deep" was such an old release! nevertheless it is still tight and would fit in a lot of different sets, i like it easy for me to say though since i already have most of blackwatch's releases and remixes. their remix of "alright" by kinnie starr is funky and groovy, not like the progressive they usually make but it gets stuck in your head nonetheless. and of course i can't forget "loveless". what a great track!
