Europeans doesnt know anything about their new constitution

The new constitution, approved by the EU last month, faces a plebiscite in 10 countries, including the UK, Ireland, Portugal and Spain. More than 33% of those questioned said they had yet to make up their minds on whether they supported the constitution, with hesitation particularly high in the 10 countries where a vote will be held. Parliaments in Lithuania and Hungary have already ratified the constitution, but a single "No" vote could stop the treaty in its tracks. A European Commission spokesman said the more people knew of the constitution, the more they were likely to approve of it. The treaty is an attempt to streamline EU decision-making, replacing vetoes with majority voting in many areas though not in foreign affairs, defence, social security, taxation and culture. Margot Wallstroem, European Commission vice-president, said: "The data for countries which will hold referendums shows a high level of indecision. "It may mean that there is a clear risk of a low turnout if campaigns are not able to connect with citizens." The poll suggests the UK government faces the toughest campaign of all, with 30% of citizens opposed to the European constitution and only 20% in favour, according to the sample.

Stupid europeans! what should we do about them?

I have no idea whatsoever what this constitution contains! I suppose it would be fairly easy for anyone to find out but that would mean reading a shit load and I guess the vast majority of people cannot be arsed to do that. I never hear anything on the news about whats in the constitution only that there is one being discussed

yeah i agree.. i only know roughly whats in it, but i guess thats enough... but it scares me that 33% of the ppl didnt even know about it :S

Do you?! Can't say I have ever heard any Europeans calling Americans stupid for not knowing their own laws? Sure I've heard em call you just stupid!

Anyway, I take it you know the ins and outs of every single UN Resolution right? No? So why do you expect us to know about a constitution that is on top of our national laws (let alone the fact that it doesn't even exist yet and, like I said, the media seem to concentrate on the debate, rather than what it actually contains)

i will learn about it when the vote comes around, why bother till then?

i think every country should be made vote about it so people will know what they are getting into.
