Unhappy my cat got hit by a car

i came home tonight from seeing les miserables and i let my cat inside. when he came in he was limping and growling...and i tried to pet him and he was hissing. i fed him and he got on my bed and curled up and went to sleep. when he was sleeping his breathing was irregular, but when he woke up he let me pet his head. there was no blood or anything, but his coat was dirty. he woke up and left my room and he was limping and walking very slowly, growling the whole time. he's been going to dark places like closets and stuff...and he just sits there.

does anyone know what might be wrong with him?

the only thing i think he might have been hit by a car is because of the limping. he wouldn't let me touch his sides. i think he might have broken or cracked a rib.

please, if you think you have ideas about anything that might have happened...let me know? i'm really worried. we're taking him to the vet in the morning...but i don't know if i need to do anything right now.

i think you mite be right, take kitty to the vet and see what's wrong with it. No more dead cats plz

no bleeding or wounds or anything?
thats weird, car i guess
sorry man, i know what you're going through
about 7 or 8 years ago a wolf or coyote or something similar got into our garage through our cat door while my cat was sleeping and attacked her
luckily my cat's the best cat ever and got away with a few bites in her leg, nothing the vet couldn't handle
cat's still alive to this day, she's about 16 and a half
hehe and anyone who has a cat can appreciate this
i was sitting eating lunch and my cat was sitting on a rug nearby, looking up kinda towards me
i looked at her, then a second later her face god all screwed up, then she sneezed like 10 times in rapid succession
funniest thing in the world, almost spat out my food

OMG babe, this sucks. I wish the best for your cat, try to keep him close to you. Animals typically try to stay alone when something is wrong with them.

yeah well we've already been thru something like that with this cat...
he was lost for 5 months. we thought he ran away, was stolen or died but 5 months later we get a random call from a lady on a farm who lives an hour and a half away that he was there and they'd taken him inside and calmed him down enough to look at his tags. we were so lucky to find him again and i didn't want to let him outside anymore after that but my parents insisted...so then he got into a fight and we had to drain an absess at the vet's for 300 bucks. i really hope he's okay now...i'm really worried. that cat is my baby.

Hey you! It definitely sounds like your cat is sufferring from internal injuries. I would take him to an emergency vet immediately. My cat (that passed away) did not have any visible external injuries (there was no blood), but he was all banged up inside. They thought he had a broken leg, but he passed away from kidney failure. He was acting the same way as yours. When they look for dark places to hide in it's because they are in pain. They growl because they are in pain. I hope your situation turns out ok.

Like most people on here I suggest go to the vet. Hell, if I found out someone hurt my cat I'd beat living crap through them.

ditto...my cat is like my best friend, he always comes sleeps with me. I'd destroy someone if they hurt him.

Prolikewhoa...let us know what happens at the vet. I really hope he's ok (the cat)

confucious say :

man who feel like shit - must need air freshener ???

sorry man

couldn't resist

I have had the pleasure of personal knowing and living with 15 cats in my last 32 years. I have loved these animals more than some of the people in my life - and I feel love - good luck kitty!

good to hear your taking him to the vet!

i have 10 cats and I make sure there all in perfect condition!!

Posted by Jackson on Jan-30-2005 10:52:

i had the same problem with a neighbours dog about a month or so back. link

with cats the best way to tell if its been hit by a car is to look at its toenails on its feet... If they are scuffed then it shows it has been knocked across asphalt as cats will stick there claws out as a reflex.

Posted by DarkAngel on Jan-30-2005 13:05:

Aw man. Amelia, I hope your cat is okay.

hey thanks, i'll check his claws. he's been very hesitant to let anyone touch him, but i'm "his person" so i think he'd let me pick him up so i could look. thanks i hadn't thought of that.

Posted by tranceaddict991 on Jan-30-2005 21:39:

that happened to my cat when i was 5 its very depressing and i hope the fuck that did it dies for not even having the good sense to come say sorry for it and it should be an incriminating offense but its not its only incriminating if you hit a dog

he's better today. he let me pick him up to check his claws; no scratches. no blood, and he stopped limping. my dad said that maybe when he was coming back he fell off the fence weird and maybe just was aching from it. he got kinda fat so he's not as agile as he used to be. i think he's okay now...i hope so. we're still taking him to the vet in the morning (vets in dallas are closed sundays i checked like 10 places it sucks) just to make sure. thanks for asking and giving me advice and stuff i really appreciate it

You're welcome. I thought about you today and wondered how the vet visit went. I hope he starts feeling better. Keep us posted.

glad your cats ok

one of my cats got in a fight with a raccoon not too long ago...she was in pretty bad shape, but lucky she didn't lose her eye and she looks just the way she did before

ah, great to see your cats a lot better!! I love cats. One of my cats had 4 kitty's a few years ago, all but one died i bawled my eyes out, they were so stiff. We still got the suriving one i see him and the mum jumping from next door neighbours garage roof to the houseroof. Funny as shit!!
