Wow! The voting has ended! Some thanks and praise is in order!

First things first � Congratulations to Gamma and Mobius for TIEING for the crown of 2HP.ca Radio TOTA-DJ of 2004. Both had a fantastic year in 2004.

Second - congratulations to all of the TOTA DJ�s who were nominated to enter the contest and congratulations to the DJ�s which made the final vote.

Third � thank you to all who participated in this process either through nominating your favorite TOTA DJ, by voting in the final poll or by tuning into the contest broadcast.

An UBER-BIG thank you to all of the loyal and dedicated 2HP.ca Radio listeners. 2HP.ca Radio is a non-revenue, non-profit venture � it continues to exist through the satisfaction that is gained by sharing wonderful music and the massive enjoyment that results.

LASTLY: I wasn�t expecting a tie for the final poll. I thought I had planned everything out 100% for this contest � but apparently that wasn�t the case � as I don�t have any contingency plans or rules laid out in the instance of a tie vote.

So� I am going to take the next 24-hours to consider options as to how we can fairly and reasonably award the 2HP.ca Radio TOTA-DJ of 2004 award to a winning DJ. A few options on how to end the tie will be posted in this thread by EOD Monday, with a resultant decision to be made on the issue by EOD Tuesday � and the awarding of the title to (hopefully) be done by Friday February 4 2005 at the latest.

HERE IS HOW YOU CAN HELP: I am certain that 2HP.ca Radio listeners have their own ideas as to how the final title can be awarded to a single DJ. Please consider options for a tiebreaker, ways to determine the final winner � and post your thoughts and ideas in this thread. Your thoughts and opinions count � and are appreciated.

It was a treat to see all the TOTA's come together and be supportive of each other on this project. A little "get-a-long" time isn't all that bad..

i think that this being a tie is pretty damn cool.

yes, jenna, i also suggested splitting the prize but the title cannot be split so this tie issue has to be resolved.

maybe, we can do something more random. Set up a committee of people selected randomly. Have the DJs submit a recorded set or play a live set on 2HP.ca and have the 5 people decide on the winner. give them criteria selected by RJ on an evaluation form. some criteria could be: flow of set, technical skills, song selection. rate each criteria 0 - 5. the DJ with the highest added up total wins. the sets could also be annonymous so the judges don't know who is spinning.

so it would look like this:

flow 0 1 2 3 4 5
techincal 0 1 2 3 4 5
song selection 0 1 2 3 4 5


add them up from the 5 judges for each DJ.

yes, the only thing we will be able to tell who does the mix by the type of music. but at least the DJs could either choose to spin just their type of music or try to change it up a bit.

Now would it not be possible to simply make another poll between the two? (for simplicitiy, hoping it won't end in a tie again. )

I thought it was going to be more challenging to figure out what to do - but it was actually pretty simple.

Congrats to both Gamma and Mobius - fantastic work and an obviously loyal following. To be fair and still reamain true to the intent of the award...

Here is the solution, based on the provided feedback:

The following prizes WILL be split - 50/50:

- $100 CAD$ gift certificate for a record store (of DJ's choice: Release, Chemical, Juno, 4DJsOnly, etc)
- 2 special event broadcasts on 2HP.ca Radio prior to March 31 2005 (both scheduled and promoted events, possibly simulcast onto other net-radio stations)

The remaining prizes and awards WILL NOT be split:

- 2HP.ca Radio TOTA-DJ of 2004 Award
- Weekly, monthly, quarterly residency on 2HP.ca Radio (and syndication partners)
- Prominent mention on 2HP.ca Radio's website (http://www.2hp.ca)

FINAL SHOOT-OUT!

To determine the offical 2HP.ca Radio TOTA-DJ of 2004 and above non-shared related prizes - a poll (similar to the last one) will be posted on Wednesday February 2 2005 - run for 3 days - winner announced shortly thereafter. If this final vote results in a tie - then gladiator style combat.
