Boards Of Canada

Hi guys,

a while ago, a mate of mine from trance-addict suggested that I check out an album called "Music Has The Right To Children" by "boards of canada" so i did just that.

and let me tell you, these guys are really good!

Im surprised that nobody here seems to talk about them.

there a little bit of chemical brothers, a little bit of four tet, a touch of Arovane and a tiny bit of Aphex all rolled into one.

Even If you Havent heard of them you might have noticed they have a song on Global Underground 024 (CD 1) called happy cycling

Although some of their simplistic beats make them seem a little clich they still have their own distinct style and they even throw in some funny stuff here and there.

anybody else here listen to these guys?

i just bought this album over xmas. mainly cause of roygbiv. i loved that track to death. but there were lots of other tracks better than roygbiv on the album such as telephasic workshop. i found the whole album a huge trippy sounscape.

definitly recommend it to people.

Yeah, I figured everyone knew BOC so I never made a thread about it, but I talk to a few IDM-heads so I guess I just assumed they were household names.

But anyway, Music... is obviously one of my all-time favourites, and Geogaddi is not far off. If you haven't heard them before, a good way to start would be the In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country EP, featuring four tracks not on their albums (I think) which pretty much sum up their style.

ok but what did that guy mean by number stations?

Wouldn't call them ambient, generally, although they have done some stuff that borders on it.
