I NEED Explanations!!! If this is real it's just too cool.. Imagine the possibilities, military or everyday use
I wonder what the U.S has to say about this.....im sure there aware though.More than likey some small time company developed this. Now Imagine all the resources the US Army has and what they have come up with.

Now thats pimp
Makes you wonder where to draw the line between fiction and reality. A lot of movies and video games exploit this "stealth" technology, just think of James bond's latest car, or Predator, and many others..
I know I've been wondering a lot how this could be possible, and obviously If you could find a way to project the image behind the objet in front of it, it would work. Now what kind of technology would you require, that is another story.
anywho if this is real I really am curious to know how it works, for its way too damn cool!
As far as I understand it though, the image is being projected onto the jacket from an external source, so not quite predator-like stuff, unless you have a projectionist following you wherever you go.. which would kinda defeat the purpose.
Here's another link to the people behind it:

thats so awesome
heh, that's Maya.. take a closer look at the ball/rectangle.. it's 3d rendered ;>
My friend did stuff like that, and it looked freakin real. Although the U.S. Army is working on a camouflage, it's nothing that can refresh that fast anyways

Yeah I dont understand why people get so excited about this. Its not that he's transparent, just that it creates an illusion.

If the ball is camoflauge why don't we see the blokes face behind it? Instead we see the sign behind his head.
I've looked at the brochure that explains the process (http://projects.star.t.u-tokyo.ac.j.../Brochure-e.pdf), it's even worse than i thought - the illusion only works when you view the camouflaged object from a particular point (the same point from which the projected light is coming). I can't see this technology having any useful military camouflage type applications. It could still be good for surgery and aviation though.
quite clearly fake, the ball doesnt project the guy's face onto it when he moves it in front of his face - if it was to project what's behind it onto the surface, it would look clear, most definately fake

| Originally posted by astroboy It doesn't project what's behind it, it projects what's in front of the camera. In this case the camera isbehind the guy pointing at the bookshelf behind him. It's all in the links... It's very simple technology, nothing really groundbreaking at all I don't see why people find it so hard to believe. |
hahah Lira (the avatar)... Yea, it's not projecting his face because the camera's are probably on the roof and floor capturing the wall, not from the ball/box/jacket
