Does anyone know how to improve the quality of my connection on my Wireless LAN? Right now the connection I get across the house is only around 20 percent.
Any tips? Where to place my router?
Unfortunately my cable modem is located in our den, and we really cant move it out of there, but is there any tricks to where I could place my wireless router to get improved reception?
Thanks!
first off, this is not a tech support forum, but ill give you a few pointers anyways. you can hook your cable modem up to any coax connection in your house, even if its off a splitter to feed the modem and a TV. move your router as far away from any other electrical devices as you can, TVs, computers, cordless phones, etc. you might wanna try putting your router up a little higher, like on a shelf or something. these might get you an additional 5-15% signal. if you need more, move the router and modem to a central location in your house a family room or something that is right in the middle of all the computers and put wireless cards on all.
I can plug my modem into any coax connection? WTF i didn't know that.
Cool thanks man, thats what I wanted to do, was stick my modem in the living room, so that way its at a central point.
