I'm gonna purchase Virus C Soon , a Question

i would like to know the System Requirements to use the virus
since i couldnt find these Requirements anywhere
soundcard type etc...

well I guess the only requirements would be some analogue inputs really

so the only thing i need to replace in my rusty machine is the soundcard right?

Does anyone know whether the TI enables you to record via USB? If so I think the TI would be a far better option.

A new Virus C? If so... don't. Wait for the Ti - it'll be around within 45 days anyway. Used Cs will probably be considerably cheaper once the Ti is out too...

To answer your question, my VC is connected directly to the anaglogue input on my Audiophile 2496 via 2 RCA cables. If your soundcard has enough outputs, you might want to pick up a second set of RCA cables to connect them to the analogue-in on the Virus so that you can use the vocoder and effects on other things.

I use a Midisport 2x2 with a MIDI cable going to the Midi-In and another into the Midi-Out.

I think I read that you can, though don't quote me on that.

Ok I've read the Virus TI site over a few times and the TI has all the standard audio and midi outputs, so I doubt the USB out could take over the roll of both. I think the USB connection is used to control/load patches into the VirusControl VST plug in? Don't quote me on that tho

i'm sure you'll be able to send all audio and midi through usb, if you choose.

Posted by Vizay on Feb-01-2005 15:47:

yes you'll be able to record via the USB only, that's one of the revolutionary things with the TI, it's the first synth wich is able to do this (I think so at least )

it's a shame tho that they haven't equipped it with both USB & Firewire (IEEE1394)

Yeah firewire would be better. but since its usb we know its usb is it usb2 also i wonder. i would rather hope it is atleast usb 2. but yeah recording via usb is going to be a great feuture

too bad they didnt reached to this technology when the C Series came out

just ordered my virus B

The access virus will use USB 1(full speed) which is 11mbps vs 1mbps It will not be USB or firewire.. Firewire for the reason of it not being compatible with as many systems as usb... but the reason for them not making it USB2 is beyond me also it will only be able to send send 6audio tracks as i understand it thus if you want 16 parts multi youll still need to hook up via the aux....
