Moogwai - 5 Wishes & More ALBUM [Platipus]

Ordered myself a copy, havn't checked out the tracks in depth yet, so feel free to share if you have done so

It sounds cool and different...really trippy from the samples

Tracklist:

1. Neon - followup to Viola, I liked this track. Has a nice buildup, something you can nod your head to

2. The Nord Song - sounds to be a nice cross between trance and prog. Again, can't tell yet

3. Viola - Not much to say other than CLASSIC!

4. Anagram - interesting, dark track...looking forward to hearing the rest

5. 1AD - This sounds awesome!!! Really cool, my mind drifts...The track I'm most interested in hearing

6. Labyrinth

7. 5 WIshes & More

8. Viola 2005 (Tektonik Remix) Correct spelling?

Anyway, I don't want to look as if i'm reviewing it yet, but those were a few observations

It could be really good, a nice balance of classics and new tracks.

Your Thoughts?

ive always prefered labyrinth over viola, cant rememebr which part number, the darker part anyway (part 1 i think).

however i will be interested to hear the new moogwai stuff even though chab isnt involved anymore.

Thanks, will give it a try. Even though the perspective of new Moogwai musics makes me scared...

Only 4 new songs and 8 songs on the entire CD is a bit of a disappointment, but i'm looking forward to hearing the new stuff anyways.

very nice...

imo they should've included his remix of "Tomorrow" in lieu of the Tektonic bullshit remake, but nevertheless, it goes without saying that Moogwai pwnz j00 all

Posted by Floorfiller on Feb-09-2005 06:12:

moogwai can deliver...so this will hopefully be good

Posted by Shudder on Feb-09-2005 17:43:

is moogwai the same person as chab?

Posted by nettwerk on Feb-09-2005 19:44:

Used to be.

what do you mean "used to be?" lol

yes, he is..they are 2 different aliases for his real name, Francois Chabloz.

Aren't the new Moogwai musics produced by someone else? Read that weeks ago on MD, can't remember the thread.

you're probly thinking of the new Moogwai "Viola" remakes, which were basically remade by others...

This was the post that made me think that, on the Viola 2005 thread. Not on MD, here. My bad

"Neon", "Viola" & "Labyrinth" are ofcourse very good, nuff said.

The bassline in "The Nord Song" is killing me
fucking nice

"Anagram" is pretty good also, nice buildup with vocals and very nice melody and when the vocals kick back in it sounds really cool.

"1AD" = AMAZING
best new track of the album. Hypnotising buildup with some nice piano samples
then comes some crazy (japanese or something) sounding vocals in the break, only increasing the hypnotising effect and then the tune takes off again. amazing stuff. trance that takes you to other worlds for sure, this is what trance is all about for me!

"5 Wishes And More" is maybe the less good new tune, but not by any means bad. Very decent track, gets me in a party mood. Little more laid-back then the other tracks and more melodic. Good production.

Only bad thing is that they included that Viola 2005 remix. Could have included a remix of their own, which would have been much better.

But all in all this is a very good CD and worthy of purchase imo!

Couldn't have said it better myself. Only difference is that, IMO, best is The Nord Song. Addicted to it

if you pitch up the track 5 Wishes And More from the original 128 bpm to about 138 bmp it becomes a completely different beast.

On the original speed the track does nothing to me but pitched up it's absolutely great!

just heard these, all the new tunes are pretty dull. moogwai is just not the same without chab

I thought Moogwai was chab..

Francois Chabloz = Moogwai / Chab.

One guy.

yes, and that's already been mentioned. Chab, however, as a rule leans towards prog. house and prog. trance, while Moogwai more so towards Trance...
