What is your favourite synth?
sine, square or sawtooth?
personally, I love square and I am looking for an artist that uses square alot
i like variety
yeah variety is good
sine cause it's smoother and nicer to the ears.. however lately there's too many sine leads and it became a bit of a cliche. doesn't mean i don't like square or saw.. when used properly they are great
but i guess most tracks use the three of them, and even most synths use a combination of them
variety
By the way... Perhaps someone could post examples of songs that perfectly describe these different synths for those who don't know, b/c I'm sure many are reading this thread thinking "wtf are those?"
true. very true.
um.... I can only give names tho.
Postal Service - Brand New Colony --> Square Synth (very start of song)
i'll let the others give examples of other ones
what are u talking about....VSTi synths ..or wut......
I guess I'd have to say sine, but I cringed when I read those three classifications.
PS:LMAO at VSTi
*UWNs sig here*

pulse waves have their moments too
as do sine
and square
oh fuck it... i cant decide
the saw
7 detuned saws makes the supersaw
most know like Airwave sound
white room - white room is a blatant example of a sine lead.. even if it's annoying as fuck

I like variety. Favorite synth in a a track = Suburban Train . the opening synth.
Square Wave + Pulse Width Modulation does it for me
But really it's not the shape of the waveform, it's what you do with it that counts! Since by themselves you're in video game music terrority.
samples or STFU.
wtf you talking about waveforms for?
Many synths have these waveforms in them: sine, sawtooth, pulse, square, triangle etc etc...
If the question is: What is your favourite synth? Then list your favourite synth... Virus, Nord Modular, Supernova etc etc
If you're talking about SYNTHESIS?:
List:
lol
I was basing this entire thread on what everybodies fave primary unFX'd synth was.
So there you go...
and yes it is still called a synth if it is in its first state.
Is the question:
"Whats your favorite synth?"
or
"Whats your favorite waveform?"
Everyone is talking about waveforms . . .
hehe true
my favs synths are JP-8000 and Supernova II
I dont think any of "sine, triangle, square or sawtooth" is a synth... Right, they're waveform instead.
Hmmm I seems to have forgotten my audio studies
Just checked out this
