I have to say that this list looks much better now, than last year.
Tiesto at #6, Armin at #27, Ferry at #18..
Not bad. Finally UK public starts to appreciate true talent.. Or are the results such because one could vote via Internet?

After basement jaxx essential mix i would have thought they would have been higher, and john digweed at the top, imo he is not the best. But if the people talk, i listen.

So well done to him

Well, Sasha remains strong. IMHO, he won't be so high up next year, I'm predicting 2002 will be the return of uplifting. I'm surprisd to see Oakey at #5, considering how much bashing he absorbs on this site...

intresting rankings. i noticed the top ten really didnt have too many trance artists on it(exceptions being tiesto and pvd). i was also surprised to see no matt darey or dj mind-x on it. maybe cause matt hasnt really put out a lot this past year. and as for mind-x i dont know

The only thing that surprises me, is that as many uplifting trance DJs scored as highly as they did. For those of you in the USA who don't get DJ mag, it's hardly going to provide a balanced opinion from a reader's poll, simply because it's always been a mainly UK prog house flavoured magazine. If all your readers are into prog house, then a reader's poll is obviously going to favour those kind of DJ's ...

For example, I'm just looking through last week's issue and there's a big multi page cover story on Deep Dish ... full page interviews with Ubu, Ashley Casselle and Nigel Lawson (all prog) ... there's also a couple of French disco-house producers, one old-school rapper that no one's ever heard of, something about the Future Sound of London, and a cover CD from Chicken Lips (wacky house music record label). The whole epic/uplifting trance scene is represented by a tiny little quarter page in the news section, asking four short questions to PvD about his new mix album.

If, however, you look at real big stadium size dance events like Gatecrasher at the NEC last week, they still call in the big guns of epic trance like Oakenfold and PvD to be their headliners when they want to guarantee they're going to fill the place. Imagine if they had headlined with John Digweed, how many tickets would they have sold If this poll actually bears any resemblance to the true state of what's popular in UK clubland, then I'm Mary Queen of Scots.

I didn't know that matt darey is that good a DJ. I know he's a good producer but DJ'ing is a different cup a tea. Where does Darey spin ? I would love to hear what he can do if anyone has a mix or sumthing by him.

Thanks for putting the list up, bud...

i can't imagine how they put Marco V at #85....... and completely leave off Johan Gielen.... especially with all the GREAT sets they've both had this last year....

How do they do this list by? Skills or Track Selection? Because some names that i see on there aren't THAT good...

a few weeks ago he played at glow in washington,d.c. and that was a great set according to people on this site. as for mixes and dates try his site at www.mattdarey.com or www.dance-paradise.org for tracklists but you probally already knew that.

They had a big internet poll that you could vote on. And for your no headlining of Digweed or the such at major festivals is because, from what I've heard and seen, a lot of prog. house clubbers are really jaded and like the smaller, more intimate settings.
