V-station equalizing
can you equalize in v-station...i can't seem ot get the right sounds...especially the chorus hting...i can't get hte flanged effect...it's tough not using the fruity plugins...anyone have v-station presets they can share?
[Edit] go to the last post by me
your best bet is to use external fx with any synth, the ones inbuilt with the synth can be very limiting
i downloaded the sample off of the v-station website
it's funny that i can't get the flanger/delay/reverb or the equalization to the sounds they have in the sample.
about the external fx. where can i get them besides the ones in fruity loops
try www.kvraudio.com
They have tons of free and commercial fx.
haha i just found out i can use fruity plugins with v-station
anyways, yah v-station is pretty powerful..sounds are fuller than the generators in fruity...
only problem i have is the envelope amount...which i dont' kno how to do
download the sample here and i'll explain. (right click)
in the sample the first melody is with v-station. as i increase cut frequency there isn't any rhythm or pulsating feeling...it just kind of blends...however in the second melody as the cut frequency increases the enveloping creates that pulsing rhythm...any suggestions on how to get a similar feel with v-station as you increase cut freq?
Tweak the Resonance too!
is hte resonance too high?...haha envelope!
No, I just didn't really understand what you were looking for. I thought you didn't know to tweak the resonance as well as the cut off - as for the pulsing you're talking about, I guess I don't know what you mean...
Maybe I could help if I had an example of the exact effect you want? Because at first, I thought the sample above what what you were trying to achieve, not what you had already done. That's why I said tweak resonance.
oh i see...i'm messing aroudn with the first instrument or melody...i want it so that when i increase cut freq it sounds good...like not all blended and mushy...distinct notes and stuff like that of the melody that follows...the second melody has a distinct rhythm and doesn't sound mushy when the cut freq is low
Try adding some compression?
After listening to the sample again, BOTH samples sound absolutely correct. There seems to be nothing wrong. Different sounds will respond a bit differently to cutoff but BOTH are just the way I'd expect them to sound.
ah i see. different instruments have different sounds when u increase cut...anyways...i got it sounding better wtih the keytrack nob
did u guys notice that when the cut freq is low..there is this little clicky sound...how do i get rid of that?
You could use EQ effects (parametric EQ or Graphic EQ). These are not on your V-station. You have to assign your V-Station to a mixer track and put the EQ there. By the way, Cutoff and Resonance are Filter controls, not EQ.
increase attack, decay, or raise cut
To be more descriptive, Open a parametric EQ effect in the mixer channel where you've assigned your v-station and play with the sliders until the click sound goes away. However, this may change the character of the sound as the filter opens up. I really think your filters sound just like they should. Resonance can cause the sound to be clicky (for lack of a better word) so try different resonance settings to get rid of that too. Are you using FL?
If so, maybe I can help you more.
yes i'm using fl
the v-station manual says that you increase attack time..but the click only disappears when the attack time is very higher = not very good sounds...
Well, what the attack does is change how fast a note comes full on. Raising the attack keeps the sound from having a 'pluck'.... I'm not explaining this very well. Do you have MSN Messenger? If so, add me to your list: [email protected] and maybe we can work on this by using FL Studio files and passing them back and forth until you get the help you need.
www.audiopioneers.net has some tutorials up on it for vstation check em out
