Hello! New track! Ben Acosta - Cannon in D (Laid Back Mix)

Hi everyone!
Here is another new track from yours truely, playing one of my favorite classical pieces. Cannon in D! And like the subject says, it's laid back, chill out music . This was mostly a project to gauge some new synth's capabilities, I must say, it's very intimidating, opening it, and seeing all these knobs, levers and buttons. Although still very basic, I'm pretty happy how this came out, and I worked, and reworked it a lot heh. As far as the techincal aspects, well, they're a little better than my last song, which I still need to update (ack!). I'm not really looking for critism, although it'd be apperciated, but some general responses would be nice. Well, I hope you enjoy listening as I did making it! (I also have a self made midi, which if anyone wants just AIM me BshidoBean.)

Ben Acosta - Cannon in D (Laid Back Mix) Length 3:23
Thanks for listening!
-Ben

Aww come on guys, 18 looks no replies? I know I'm not too good, but if you can sit down and DL an hour or longer dj set, you can sit down and listen to a 3 minute song I made

Welp, I don't know much but it sounds... spimple. I think it needs a spark, some new samples, somehting not so generic. Still a good job I know I can't do any better Keep it up, maybe one day u will come out with another "carte blanche"

On a side note, did u d/l Ong-Bak? U disconnected from my server after getting 415Mb?

Thanks for listening Macjei, I'll agree it does sound pretty simple, but there is a point to that besides for the fact, I've yet to find my own unique 'synth sound's'.

Not a lot of classical music was ment to have a beat behind it, and with classical and chillout music, less is always better, not having a lot of things going on at once is key to such music. In classical, melody is over the rythm, and in EDM it's rythm over melody (trance being one of the small exceptions). Hardly any real big builds, or driving synths, or phasing, etc, etc. I'm glad you listened, your opinion is always enjoyed

BTW, left my computer on, and well it's just sitting on 425 MB's

sound pretty good - its definately unique, but i'm probably a little critical because Canon in D is definately my favorite calssical piece... i wouldn't call it chillout though, and i think you could take the tempo down a bit, or leave the tempo and change up the beat - i think it would sound hot if it was a little more breaks-y... one last thing - why didnt you use some really wide-band trancey strings for the backup melody - like the strings sound in the original...

Sounds like F.L.

Hi Greg! Thanks for the reply!
It is indeed Fruit Loops, but I didn't use a lot of FLS instruments for my song. I used samples for my percussion, Synth 1 for my appegrio, FL Keys don't sound that bad to me, and well the 3xOSC (please don't kill me ) for my strings near the end.

Hey, thanks for listening, feedback and replies are cool! Canon is definitely one of my favorites as well, which is another reason I made this. Also, I didn't use any samples, I made a midi, and used the score here. I wish I knew my strings well... I don't have many samples, and I only have four VST's (not including the ones that came with FLS, Superwave P8, reFX Claw, Synth 1, and Triangle II) so my FL Studio is pretty small, and I haven't got the hang of those just yet. In previous versons I kept the beat breaky, but in the middle I just couldn't find the perfect beat except 4x4, so I slowed the BPM's down, so it's just like a mini build up .

The drumbeat in the intro sound promising, but the piano kind of ruins it for me a bit... but then again Canon in D isn't one of my favorite pieces... dono what genre this remix is really... maybe you can coin a new genre lol BShidoHEAT music hehe :P and have a BshidoHEATaddict site.

After listening in it in headphones it gets really distorted especially during the high notes. I think it's a lil' too loud and not compressed correctly, I may update it later. Heh, BshidoHEAT music, that'd be interesting

Thanks for listening

Thanks bro
Glad you like it!

I'll also try to get the original mix up, which has has some cool eqing to make the piano light and clearer and some deep strings .

Strings Attached Mix

I did this just a few weeks ago, but now I got this MySpace Music thing going on so it can host my stuff without bothering my friend .

In this mix I did a little EQing tricks to make the piano sound whispery, airy, and light, although some may get annoyed by it, I think it makes the piano standout. I also added notes played by strings in the background I was missing before in my first mix of it. EDIT: Forgot to mention the Strings Attached mix is melody only, no beats, for those classical heads.

Also I put up an updated verson of Turbulence, shootin' straight with that punchy kick .
