lol v funny, seriously i was this close to throwing the box accross the room today, i have no harmonic skills or whatever it is that nem calls it, where is he anyway? he makes awesome sets

Posted by tu_face on Feb-04-2005 16:41:

sell them, buy new ones.

Posted by djdimensions on Feb-04-2005 16:53:

you have great records man just pick about 12 of them that kind of sounds alike and there you have it. And if u want to sell ill take ur anjuna stuff off your handa

Posted by DannyO on Feb-04-2005 17:24:

Wow I dunno how you could make any set with THOSE records, your gonna have to get some real tunes, tell ya what, me being a nice guy I will take about 15 certain tracks from ya for a good price, that way you will have money for some good tunes , I'm just doing you a favour, I don't want them, but I'll buy them to help you out.

Posted by Wraith on Feb-04-2005 17:33:

Well, I'll gladly take all of them off your hands for no fee whatsoever. The you can buy new ones!!!!!! He he he....

Seriously though. You don't have a bad collection at all it's just hard to sift through it all and find the stuff that works well together but if love to DJ then it should be no problem. I'm in the same boat you are, sort of, I'm trying to record a set so I can listen to it and let other people listen to it but have been having a heck of a time getting it arranged the way I want with songs that go well together. Needless to say I've been through my records at least 50 times and I think I've found the set I've been looking for. Now it's just getting it recorded without the inevitable screw-ups that always seem to crop up.

hahahahahahaha

yea, learn harmonic mixing.

I'd be interested in:

Coast 2 Coast - Home
Cygnus X - Superstring
DJ Tisto - Suburban Train
Gouryella - Tenshi
Plummet - Damaged
Push - Strange World
Svenson & Gielen - Beachbreeze

not 15 really, kinda got ahead of myself.

i just want to know, if you hate your records, why did you buy them in the first place?

i know i only buy what i like, makes sense to me

Posted by eyeball_2003 on Feb-04-2005 20:31:

i can see why both of you would want those tracks but unfortunatly i dont want to part with them, anyway abou harmonic mixing i have a question. lets say for example i have gouryella playing on deck a (gouryella has a really deep bass) do i have to match that with a tune that doesnt have a deep bass? and the same with the mid's and hi's?
or do i just experiment till i find what goes with what?

Quite obviously things change.

I have a considerable number of trance records I never, ever play anymore, only at the time (just over a year ago) i couldnt get enough of the epic trancers.

people always have records in thier collection they hate. My main one being Agnelli & Nelson - Holding onto Nothing (what was I thinking!)

Posted by 3xx3r7 on Feb-05-2005 01:34:

Fuck harmonics

Heh if you hate them sell them.

Posted by Billabong on Feb-10-2005 13:04:

You got some many peak time floor filler asot and ajuna songs how is any set you do ever going to have a peak. You need to invest in some tunes that arnt so trancy or epic so you can structure your sets a bit better.

Posted by DjArTiN! on Feb-10-2005 17:23:

What the hell are you whining about, you have good records. Look at mine http://www.discogs.com/user/DjArTiN , and I make decent mixes with mine.

yes filler tracks

I hate callin them that but its basically what they are, cool songs that get ya through to the really good ones.

Posted by jusware on Feb-10-2005 19:49:

Here is the general formula that I have found to suit my needs. 1st - intro (something minimul, maybe a vocal track with low energy), 2nd/3rd fillers building on the first two(minimul but getting more progressive), 4th/5th/6th transition records building off 2nd and 3rd (something from all parts of your style to establish a theme for me: deep/techy/dark-psy), 7th Special Rmx to get the crowd involved (classic rock rmx/ or main stream trance), 8th-12th full on assault on the brain, 13th bring it down a notch, final record epic.

When you buy records keep in mind where they would be in the formula. Don't buy records just because everyone else spins them. If you don't have a feel for them as a Dj they won't do you any good.

Hope this helps..PEACE! -PsyberNeo
