Specific Nutrition Question

I've recently changed my diet and have made oatmeal my choice of breakfast each morning.

I'm just wondering if it matters if the oatmeal is healthier going down hot/warm or cooled off/down-right cold.

Also, an opinion on whether this is a good choice for breakfast.

Oatmeal is an awesome choice for a healthy breakfast. It's just about one of natures perfect foods.

As far as warm or cold, the difference should be negligible for health benefits.

The only thing I would be concerned with is adding sugar or butter or things like that.

Just out of curiosity, are we talking about those packets, where you just add boiled water? Or are you using the more traditional method.

didn't u see that commercial where those brothers lowered their cholestrerol and lost weight by eating it for breakfast for 30 days

hot/cold wouldn't matter. no sugar = healthy, get the old fashion type (less processing the better)

It's this Quaker Oats container:

No additives in my oatmeal, by the way.

what are you guys talking about??

everybody knows that 'Breakfast' is a myth invented by the evil cereal corporations

Oatmeal is arguably the best thing you can eat for breakfast. I've eaten it everyday for almost 2 years now, mixed with applesauce.

i like to eat big, tasty, sugary, buttery, syrupy grench toast and pancakes.

It's low GI so it's great if you want to loose weight or not put any on. It goes really well with a bananna+milk(proccessed in a blender). However you'll want to mix it up after a while considering it gets boring to eat.

That's what I'm not happy about.

Thanks for all the replies, folks.

i normally mix it up with some flavoured protein whey and water in the blender and drink it cold. milks an ok alternative, but i tend to have that once a week otherwise it can get a bit fatty.

any form of protein can cause liver damage but in excessive amounts. it doesnt matter wether it be whey, tuna etc, if you have to much you'll either damage your liver or get kidney stones.

it's like saying salt will clog your arteries (sp?) of course it will if you have TOO much, but i still eat a small amount of salt everyday.

whey protein isolate is probably one of the best things you can have if you dont exceeed taking more than your body needs.

what do u know abt nutrition, fat ass

Posted by nrjizer on Feb-07-2005 01:18:

Oatmeal is an excellent choice... but not by itself. What you really need in the morning is a lot of protien. Unlike carbohydrates, protien is broken down slowly throughout the day, so a good breakfast with plenty of protien will give you energy that lasts all day.
