REVIEW: Robbie Rivera @ ARC (aka. a scandalously impromptu night..)
well so the nite started off with drgoodvibe and i hittin a Chinese new year's party @ a co-workers' place .. shortly after that it turned out that drgoodvibe was due to head down to ARC to catch Robbie Rivera for some photoshooting for girllovingtvibe's magazine review on the party. needless to say i ended up tagging along seeing as how i didn't really hav any plans after the house party..
first time at ARC (i had never been to Lotus prior either). the club didn't look like much on the outside, nor did the crowd at first glance - i know shame on us for being so judgemental.. we chilled outside for a while only to find out that girllovingtvibe and tatgirl would be a little late getting there to meet us. we decided to stick around outside the club for a while longer seeing as how packs of guys seemed to keep drawing up to the club every 5 mins or so. at one point it didn't look like the party was gonna turn out to be much than a club full of guys muscling it out with each other on the dancefloor. tatgirl and girllovingtvibe eventually showed up and we headed inside, swallowed the $25 cover in what was to be a very low expectation night.
this is where we went wrong.. immediately upon entry we were bombared with some banging, booty shaking, groovie boogie down beats. the crowd inside looked nothing like it did outside, which was quite bizarre since it was the same people we saw earlier heading inside. to put it quite frankly the vibe was simply sexually off the hook. i dunno who it was whether Evil P or whomever was on the decks started the nite off very well. the club itself was actually quite nice. i can't really compare it to Lotus since i'd never been there prior to the renos , but from what i gathered, it's definately a place with a lotta potential. 2 large areas make up the main parts of the club with one area being a nice chill out zone with plenty of couch space and a bar, and the other making up what i take it was the mainroom with a small bar at the rear. the main dj booth was in the corner of the mainroom, and a balcony hung overheard looking down upon the dancefloor.
sister boogie dallastar soon joined us and the remainder of the nite was spent beat shaking. everyone seemed in a very festive mood and the crowd was generally very friendly. (TOTA manfest part) there were suprisingly lots of women inside, hot women at that despite our erroneous reconnaissance reports outside. after some very friendly .. mmmm.. - encounters with a few of the club goers
we made out way to the chill area where we all engaged in some deep chillaxin of sorts until we finally left the club.
oh yeah, Robbie Rivera also played a scandalously dirty ass set which simply assaulted my ears track upon track. he's definately an under-rated DJ here and now i can attest how good of a DJ he really is. for those of you who have never heard this guy, do check him out. the shiat is hawt, and it's quite possibly hawt for a reason.
after a rather devilishly clever night, we parted ways outside the club where drgoodvibe and i proceeded to head back north. the dense fog made the way home more eerie, but our night would not be over yet. approx. 2 blocks before the DVP onramp we stopped at a red light where a taxi cab pulled up beside us. In this car were about 6 absolutely wasted chicks who appeared to hav just left a club, rolled down their windows and fiendishly called out to us in a very suggestive manner. curiously we managed to spare the effort to lower our own windows in response. in what seemed like a semi-audible Irish and UK accent, we were told to follow them and head to 24 River Street.
what happened after apparently remains undisclosed
, but next time you go out, remember not to get too wasted, otherwise you might hav ur sorority house address posted on the internet ..
for those interested, here's the map:

24 River Street? Why does that sound familiar... hmm...

I want the details from this scandalous after party later tonite, Em.
Was really happy Robbie Rivera got a decent crowd this time around. Definitely some odd characters in there, but that made for amusement.
I believe the opening DJ was some guy named Alonso. As expected, I really enjoyed the tunes Robbie dropped. But once we went to sit down for a breather, I kinda got glued to the seat. Soon enough, Beh got hungry, Dallas got a headache, & it was decided we just leave. The grooves were still infectious, as we were shakin out booty's while waiting at coat check. Just wish we'd had some more energy- I didn't get my disco nap last night.
I really hope a 'better' club books him some time soon. Holy crap, did that soundsystem kill the ears...

Sounds like a great party, too bad I had to miss it ... my work schedule just doesnt let me out.
So, which tunes did Mr. Rivera drop that night? Anyone?
why do house djs always wear t-shirts from old metal bands??? manzone and strong always wear led zeplin shirts and stuff??? it's so wierd, cause everyone is wearing like diesal, parasuco etcetc. in the crowd, and the djs wear an ac/dc, led zeplin shirt, such an oxy moron...ah well...robbie is great, to bad i couldn't attend. next time...i really want roger sanchez to come back, he does it proper!

I was quite impressed with Robbie Rivera. Prior to this event I had not heard of him. I obtained some of his singles to listen to in order to find out what he brought to the table. Listening and watching him live was so much better than what I had heard. Some real banging tunes that made me want to shake my stuff. I wish I had the energy to do so....
Thank you Tatgirl (for the ride there), Dallas & Desidel for hanging. Thank you Dr. Good Vibe for taking pics for the review....Sorry I could not stay - the night before killed me and my body....had a tough time staying awake...

Can anyone remember???
Can anyone remember the names of a few tracks that Robbie spun that would stick out as being memorable during his set. I have no idea of any of the names - i tried to get track listing but have been unsuccessful....
He did play "Girlfriend", some mix of "Call Me" (Robbie Rivera mix), "Funk-A-Tron", David Guetta "The World is Mine", Alter Ego- "Rocker". Also, some tune that was a mix of that disco song, "I feel Love" blended with some other tune that is escaping my head right now... Dallas or Emz?? Help me out.
Also, another popular recent tune, that I sorta know the lyrics to but not the title... goes a little something like this:
"Anytime, anywhere, ---- , ----, uh-huh.... oh yeah" (repeat). Is it "Sex 2005" by Robbie Rivera?
funk a tron!
that beat makes me laugh for some reason
love it thou
