Its that time of the year...waiting for the preseason to kick in and see whether your team picked up any 'keepers' as goldmember would say.
Im glad the Hawks got a coach who hasnt previously been involved with the club e.g ex player. I think its good for the team as he would bring new views and methods of going about things whther its on the track or during a game (gameplay)
News is Everitt will be playing up forward a bit more this season. We are lacking seeing Thompson is at the Roos now. Campbell stepped up last season but we need more out of him if this is gonna happen.
Dutchie and Barker are definately under the pump still.
There's a lot of hype around Nathan Ablett...you think his gonna be THAT good in his first year!?
as much as it pains me to say but hawthorn will go alright this year. but keep an eye on richmond, they drafted arguably 2 of the best young players in the land, 4 of the top 10, and their top 4 guns are as good as any team. much like st kilda they will be a force for years to come imo.
as for my team essendon, well, we've been lacking another premier midfielder for god knows how long and yet after last season we've done NOTHING to address it. i foresee a top 8 finish and possibly comin 6th for the 3rd year in a row. just not good enuff.
nathan ablett wont do much this year but then again i underestimated gary jr and look at him now. fucking gun.
in summation:
UP THE BOMBERS!!!
Gardiner back for the Eagles will see them make the top 6 i think.
Essendon hasnt had a propper key defender since Sean 'not a' Wellman left...or am i wrong?
errr wellman only just retired at the end of last season. dont know why, he had at least another season in him. in my mind the best defender we ever had - we traded him away. almost made me barrack for another team. now i see damian hardwick is a coach at hawthorn. another reason why you guys will do alright.
you can never discount the eagles with prolly the best midfield in the comp. but you're right gardiner is the one they need fit and healthy.
one team to watch this year
The Mighty Sainters!!!
we'll be in the top 2 this year, for sure..
no falling short this year
any reasoning behind ur statement soups??
or are u crawling out of the closet after last years performance?
Port's looking good again.
Sure we've lost Carr and Schofield, but we've also got Primus and Francou coming back, and when they were playing together a few seasons back they were probably the best ruck/midfielder pair, they are freakishly good together. We've also got really good young players who came out last year (Thurstans and Ebert in particular, also Salopek and Surjan) and also some really good guys in the pipeline (Micheal Pettigrew, Troy Chaplin, Luke Peel)
out of the closet.
nickos u have no diea the pain ive suffered being a
saints supporter
things are finally looking up
Richmond will not perform well if Nathan Brown continues to take all the boys down to Prince on a Sat nite. Sure it might not affect his performance but it affects his teammates thats for sure.
lets hope our draft picks of
Andrew McQualter, Cain Ackland, Mark McGough and James Gwilt
can do something
although a bit sketchy on McGough...

deluded? dont tell me you're one of those one-eyed narrow minded fools who cant look past the fortunes of their own team... and if they dont succeed? shit they aren't my team. win-win. which all-conquering team are your bed-sheets colours in btw?

| Originally posted by tbias Lets be a little rational here. All the Melbourne teams are shite. The Melbourne AFL players are more in love with the lifestyle than the game. Win or lose these boys get the girls, the drugs, the haircuts, the clothes. There is little desire to conquer and there is little self-discipline, and they are soft cawks. Its almost as if the Melbourne clubs are resigned to the fact that they are no longer in with a chance to win the competition. Teams like Richmond, the Bulldogs and Hawthorne are spending more time organising how they will survive, merge, or be cut, than expecting to win games, which is certainly a more realistic approach, although your average supporter has not really caught on to this yet. Poor people. The AFL competition is structured to help out this crap Melbourne teams, as they barely travel, and the AFL gives them constant assistance due to their poor management. I support the Lions, and before this the Bears, and throw your salary cap insults around, fine, but they do it tougher than anyone else, and its a professional outfit, and they play as a team. They don't enjoy the same high profile as your Melbourne AFL players so they actually focus on winning games. |
easy fellas
who wants another beer?
the lions will have to make do without lynch but im sure there salary cap 'lol' will more then surely fill the void. bradshaw i always thought was a key position forward so hopefully now he can stamp his mark. i wanna see vandenberg shut akermanis up once n for all. that would be a good little battle
hawthorn at $81 for the flag...i might put 10 on that
along with another few $5 dollar placings...Essendon? West Coast?

Not really much point.

Ahh, arrogance, I take that as a compliment.
Might not be quite as easy for us this year....
