I'm startin to get bored with trance, here, guys.

I listen to a track ive never heard before, and i can always pick out right when a new element is coming in, you can just feel it. the 4:4 measure is starting to bore me. any ideas as to new and interesting forms of electronic, perhaps in a 3:3 or some weird ass 7:3 combination?

I think you would have to get into IDM to get away from 4/4.

it's high time for you to delve into other genres

...or listen to older trance hehe

well, ive gotten into breakbeat, and when i first did, i loved it, but its starting to get bland as well

can anyone reccommend some artists?

i suggest try making music that doesnt bore you. I listened to tuns of punk, heavy metal, R n B, Hip Hop, rap and listening to the music i got ideas for songs i like. I know what you mean thought, like watching a cheapo scary movie with ur friends its like "....oh well this is obvious the wolf is going to show up in 3....2....1...." *wolf attacks victim blood flyin everywhere* and ur friends tell you off for spoiling it. But i dont know, maybe u should try to make some songs that dont have any ratio to them but are all progressive but in a way that keeps your listeners off gaurd. Just try listening to other types of music for a while. U'll come back....THEY ALWAYS DOOOO....gl

listen to electro house...that's the best genre imo right now...tunes like ethan - in my heart, mylo - drop the pressure, king unique's stuff, paper faces etc...
i used to listen to trance as well and i dont anymore!
a lot of djs seem to be moving towards the electro house area with steve lawler on top of the list!
the flash brothers also moved towards electro and they play the best sets in the genre...check out their global dj broadcast set on 11-29-2004!

Apparently breaks have grown even more stale than trance has (according to break-heads, anyways). Jungle's showing some signs lately though. Maybe delve into some of that.

You can't go wrong with house music, though. Especially of the deep, funky, electro type that's really getting popular again.

Oh, and disco punk! Yeah, you've got's to check that stuff out. Killer material. Acts like Tiga, Alkan, Felix, Metro Area, DFA, Playgroup, etc. Anything coming out on Turbo Recordings really.

Progressive is the word for u then. Get into other genres of EDM (this doesnt mean u have to quit or condemn trance). I started off with ONLY-trance but I'm now more open minded to EDM, I have realised, & am still exploring the beauty of EDM(mainly into progressive now. like prog house & prog breaks.) Progressive house may be 4/4 too, but it's less 'predictable' like what u said. I reckon u move around to the family of house & breaks

You just need to broaden your musical selection, for me I listen and play mostly, prog, house, and breaks. You just need to find genre's you like and take from all of them instead of devoting yourself to just one and getting bored of it.

wouldnt really say goa, as it usually reffers to psytrance of ~95.

i would say current psytrance though,, according to what you said, you wanna be suprised by the music, and not instantly know when's the next element gonna kick in.
well, in todays psytrance (its kinda parodical imo), they try to suprise you with each break... its gotten to the state where im suprised to hear the kick go back in at its appropriate place.

on the other hand, if you just wanna broaden your horizons, just go with some techno & house.
