Anyone heard of/used these?
I'm looking to upgrade my car stereo....and was wondering if anyone has heard about using a wiring harness that plugs into your stock head unit, and has RCA pre-outs. The reason is that I don't want to butcher my dash by having an out of place looking deck in order to run amps.
Poor sound quality?
I've always known the term "wiring harness" to refer to the mounting bracket plus an adapter (usually colour-coded) for the modular stereo plug that new cars usually use. I used a wiring harness when I upgraded my stereo but I don't remember any RCA pre-outs on it. The visual I'm getting is something that literally goes on top of an existing deck, which doesn't make sense to me - do you maybe have a URL or more detailed info? I'm sure I'm just misunderstanding...
it's actually a harness that goes inline between your factory deck and your factory harness that has preouts on it. this allows you to have amplifiers but still keep your factory deck.
I've got one in my truck... not too bad... really its just a lazy-mans tool... so you dont have to sit and test each wire... it isolates each component into a standardized color wire...
Say goodbye to the Digital Multimeter and AA battery... say hello to stereo harness adaptors
They are also more commonly used for deck changes...
