The Revolution Is Coming
Hi all, you might not know me, but I have something to say.
I'm sick and tired of people walking all over me, of my government deciding how I live, and how I am seen by the rest of the world.
I want to put an end to racism, sexism, poverty, and all of societies ills.
I want to take the power back from the ones who are abusing it.
lofty goals you may say, but it CAN be done. This is the time RIGHT NOW, while your reading this.
Here are some quotes from some a friend of mine:
quote:
Does it seem to you like there's a lot going on in the world right now? That feeling has been building here and strange things are popping up in many peoples lives? Have you noticed anything like that?
quote:
I'm starting to see a massive imbalance in the distribution of wealth over the planet lately so in the end the important thing is, I believe that I (and most of the oppressive western world) have way too much shit, and things are only useful when they're being used anyway. So fuck the stagnation of accumulation on bring on the rest of life!
you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
your name says it all....
jk
i don't want to pull the trigger. besides, i'm not that good of a sniper. but i'm in!
im on the winning side
WHAT!
why u all looking ta me that way...hey im italian its my nature to jump sides when the odds are in favor....
k fine ill join u guys..but i get to keep MY CAR!
Well, sah. Hehe..I must admit, you are raving. And you are a lunatic. But shit.. so am I.
I am not familiar w/ the 13 month cycle.. so I don't really understand the significance of it.. perhaps you can further explain?
Granted: WE might not be alive come 2012.. with the way shit's going down in the mid-east.
hehe, your theories remind me of the book The Stand by Stephen King.. Good vs Evil and all that fun stuff.
Alas, I think that the Man will only tighten his grip on society from hereon in, especially w/ the looming War. Perhaps there is something we can do.. but aside from a civil war, or a complete Anarchial society, someone has to be in charge.. and then the cycle begins again. So what do we do?
"In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is. "
- Jan L.A. van de Snepscheut
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."
- Mahatma Gandhi
"Everything has been figured out, except how to live. "
- Jean-Paul Sartre
"When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I've never tried before. "
- Mae West
And finally:
"Wise men make proverbs, but fools repeat them. "

wow, those were some pretty powerful words there Raver
just too many for me to read
>JM<
ok label me a skeptic, but i think of this more as devils advocate...you speak of how the calendar will allow people to choose what is good in life, or at least this is what i understand. the nature of peoples interaction has been said to be based on conflict over resources, so is peace possible? also you speak of good and evil as universal, but is this true? all cultures could never agree on what is good/evil. people individually are thoughtful and rational (in their own minds) but in a group can act like scared animals...can 30 years make a difference? jus wondering...late/

Nice responses guys..
and thanks for the quotes B.S.E, very sage words..
I am a raving lunatic, I did choose the name for a reason.
stay tuned people.
as for the 13 month calendar question.. the months were originally based on the moon circling the earth. the gregorian calendar is wrong, there are not 12 revolutions but 13.
there are 13 cycles of the moon in a year, 13 times the tides turn, and 13 times a woman bleeds. it is precisely every 28 days, with one day left over, for the world to come together.
go ahead do the math, watch the moon.

January 1st 2012, is when the traditional(out of sync) 12 month calendar, and the real 13 month calenday(in sync with the moon) will converge. At this point, the people on the good side will make the switch. |

Yes, that had everything to do with the topic at hand.
I work in an office as well, not a large corporation, only 15 people or so, we build websites. but I understand you, even in my small little corner of the world, the bosses look down on the people.
they use us for their gain. this is not how it should be people!
capitalism and democracy as a system have made this world what it is.. that isn't to say that socialism, or even communism is the way to go either. all systems of government are inherently flawed, and to tell the truth the system we have here is a pretty good one.
I can freely talk about this, with no fear of retribution from the government. that alone is worth keeping democracy.
I can invent a brilliant device and become rich of it as well..
another good thing.
anyway, my plan is not to scrap capitalism and democrazy, but to have something ABOVE it.
This is my plan. An organization above governments, above countries and religions. essentially a worldwide club for peaceful people. a sort of global ethics committe. where EVERYONE has equal say. you put forth suggestions, and people vote on them. once a decision is made, everyone tries to enforce it. with hundreds of thousands of people speaking as one, we can beat them! the governments and established leaders are few, we are many.
The most important thing is to live your life in a peaceful manner. the process is already started.

So you're telling us to abandon religion and societal structures, yet base the day of your revolution on the gregorian calendar (arguably the most powerful societal structure in the west) and nature religion. Depending on the methods used for achieving the revolution you're no better than any other fundamentalist aspiring to ascribe their set of values onto the rest of the world. The beauty of the way the system works today is that people with peaceful intentions can do with their *own* life what they want.
Hehe yes, very Stephen King - The Stand. Great piece of writing though. Also, a book everybody has heard of but not many bothered to read; George Orwell - 1984. The last half is the best as it explains the thinking (and scarily enough sense) behind the social structure outlined in the story.
w000t! kinda high , that thread- but very interesting, a philosophical thread.
i didnt get u fully tho.
whats your POINT exactely. What(!) do u WANT what do u DISlike today and HOW do u wanna achieve ur goals.
At first it seemed to me that u watched a little bit too often "Fight Club"
..but okay..
What is it that u criticize? Capitalism? Religion? The whole Evolution? The Modern Technology? Politics?
And why that predicition in the end? That makes the, in fact very serious post, a lill' bit ridiculous.
Let's leave Nostradamus-or-moon-calneder-shite aside and concentrate on your questions and asumptions.
I think that every human being is just a brick in the wall(dont laugh) and im not sure if one brick can change the whole wall, or even slightly affect it. And i assume that if u destroy the wall as it is now, it will rebuilt itself exactely the same way.
my goal is to make the world a better place.
about the calendar, your right, it's meaningless, jan 1st 2012 is just another day. it's only when we started counting right?
but it's the symbolism. the way that our society has made us believe the 12 month calendar, when really there are 13 months, is a symbol of how they tell us what is and what isn't. they tell us that we like pepsi, so we drink it.
but I don't even like pepsi! I want water! where is the advertising campaign for that?
I am just another brick in the wall, but I am gong to make a difference, or at least ruffle some feathers.
hm, well saying that it all sucks and that the world's unfair is quite easy...of course a lot of it sux but i once in a while think about the GOOD things done and developed which makes me hope.
they "they tell us what to do" thingy is a bit exaggerated and simplificized(DAMN is it THAT word??). Pepsi is a company aiming to make profit. they do it by promotion and its ur problem if u let them brainwash you or not..
Yes, there are many good things in this world, it is not all bad.
I don't let pepsi brainwash me. but some people do, because they don't know any better. I'm not saying we should march into corporate headquarters of pepsi and demand they stop advertising. nor do I think they should be able to make money.
what I want, is for the people to have their own advertising. where we can send out the message that water is way better for you. where we can tell people that diet pepsi contains aspartame, and it's very bad for you.
since we managed to establish DEMOCRACY in some parts of the world u can always go into ploitics and spread ur messages, aint nothing easiert than that,,
actually...why not open some huge international Trance-Party?

1984 was a fucking awesum book...
i agree with renegade and ravinglunatic, thats one reason i left my previous job...and i've decided that my next job better be one in which i dont have sum1 above me constantl watching me and just waiting for me to make sum mistake so he/she can fuckin fire me...hehhehh....
hey i remembered a quote from george orwell, my fave quote:
"during times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act"..
peace
thanks for the link DJ sean! very interesting.
Shit. These threads always make everyone post their deep deep thoughts on life, and their views on the world's revolution.. and it makes my eyes hurt!..hehe..not from the ideas, but rather all the damn words!
Yes, 1984 was amazing, and oddly enough, not many people have read it. Animal Farm was another amazing book, one that I think has more relevance to this topic than the former. If you guys haven't read it yet, I highly suggest it..quite insightful..makes me wonder what Orwell knew that we didn't.
But yeah, RAvingLunatic, if you want to start a World Revolution, you can damn well count me in! I'm always up for a little anarchy!
Seriously though, I'm down w/ it, hehe..
I'm interested in why you believe the Beginning of the End (or Beginning of the New Beginning?..) will start in 2012.. what is the significance of this date?.. you may have mentioned it in one of your prior posts, but I'd rather not read them all again!
anyhoo, check out Animal Farm, guys..
BSE
response?
water isnt advertised because it is ESSENTIAL for life, not because pepsi has too much money or something...i dont really know how this went from changing the world to challenging pepsi. how has pepsi brainwashed anyone? capitalism is built on supply and demand, pepsi is popular because people buy it. the cans are red white and blue, its just like coke, it has caffeine in it...what bearing does this have on anything?
you speak of people being left behind, regretting they didnt follow their beliefs, but really this would just be those who didnt follow, YOUR beliefs. and even assuming your voice was heard outside of this forum, and you gained power or momentum, then almost immediately there would be those that oppose your view point - or at least your means of obtaining utopia.
and remember:
