This is my first try to make somethign in cubase. I have no idea what I'm doing in this program. I just decided to dive right in.
Please give me some feedback I realize there are little errors in the export. I have no idea about this program, so I had no idea how to fix them try to enjoy anyway! Thanks in advance!

edit:Birthday is over. Was pretty lame. Office pool gave me $80 tho!

Leifo,
The intro is really sweet, that synth it is pretty overused imo, that low low LOUD LOUD clap is kinda distracting also and the kick needs to be better EQ.
In overall, the track is nice, kinda weak, need more things and varations and a stronger melody imo, also try to work more in the EQ because at parts sounds really unclean, above all the kick but anyway is a pretty enjoyable track .

Thanks for feedback! About claps.. i ddint realize that the midi somehow overlapped.. dunno fixed
about the eq: Yes it sucks! i installed my waves bundle realizing that "hey! these are vst" (hopefully) fixed
about the melody and synth usage.... yeah i jsut used whatever alot are very common ... I tried to fix the bd as best aspossible.
I'm now uploading the 135 bpm *fixed* version. I hope i've corrected some of your gripes! But again, thanks for even listening! please keep it coming guys!

here is the 135 bpm version. let's hope for the best right?

Nice the slower version sounded pretty crap
but the 135bpm!!!! brings all the elements together and it sound friggin awesome
This for a Cubase n00b is great and sounds professional this is even some good sh1t if you were a Cubase master!

THe start is a little bland up until about 0:30 then it all comes together and the rest is great!

Nice tunage you got there

Thanks airscape! Yeah the first version sucked... bad.. but, I brought it out back and put it down I'm glad the 135 version is making a better impression! Im glad anyone is liking it. I will have to make a real version of this song now with the melodies. This version is the same stuff just looped over and over, needs more obviously. I will work on it tomorow. Hopefully having a new version as soon as tomorow afternoon! Thanks again!

This is among the best ive heard on this forum, of course not technically (mastering, mixdown etc)... But the melodies and some of the used instruments are really sweet, perhaps a little cheesy but it really creates a nice atmosphere

Posted by Leifo on Feb-09-2005 16:30:

Thanks Dickie! That was very big compliment! I am working hard at trying to improve the quality, but I'ts never been my "thing". I've never ben good at mixing. YOu've heard of the "golden ear"? Yeah well, mines gold plated.. hehe anyway, I'm glad you listened, and glad you liked the melodies! I'm working on this song right now, just taking a break to reply. Should be pretty sweet by tonight! Thanks for listens again!
edit: shit i forgot I also had a listen to your tracks dickie! I like the iconic 2k5 one, the other was really good sounding as well but didnt leave an impression like iconic did. But the other two links didnt work Great job dood! keep em coming!

Nice track mate, there are just a couple of mistakes here and there which can be fixed easily, however you must EQ the kick cuz it sounds like "crap"
Cheers

Hey thanks for the listen! Yeah I think the audio dropouts are because of my audio card (sound blaster live), I will be ordering a Audiophile 192 next week. About the kick, Eq it how? Could it sound like crap because it ran it through T-racks compressor? Im just wondering if you mean eq it low or high? because it sounds low enough.. anyway thanks for feedback please let me know what you mean man! Thanks!

Posted by Stino on Feb-09-2005 22:10:

lets have a listen...it people say its one of the best on this forum...it should be good.

That first synth is kinda cheezy in my opinion, an ugly reverb on it as well. The other synth that i hear in the background is also not really my taste. Percussion seems very simple so far....

I wonder how people can say this is one of the best tracks on this forum because its not even close in my opinion. The sounds are pretty cheezy and the percussion is VERY simple and the track lacks variation. THat beginning synth is the same throughout the whole track so far. You should also pick a better kick sample. The melody around 2.20 is ok, but nothing to memorable. Climax is weak imo, no build up to the climax, no tension. Track only is 3.51 but it seems to take ages, its going nowhere. Its a good track for your first attempt in cubae but u need to work on elements like percussion, kick and structure.

Jester

pssst stino... its not a serious track man. You should read the post I made this jsut to try to make something in cubase. It has no structure boy you freaked out! Thanks for the listen. But again. its just a test! I'm making the actual track now, because people showed an interest. thanks
edit: i forgot to mention. About like percusion and adding more and more.. As of right now my soundcard is way to shitty for more than like 8 synths going at once. My cpu is willing, but my sc isnt able so even in the version that im making right now (the expanded version where stuff actually happens) i cant really do it well because in order to listen to this synth, i gotta turn off this one... and in order to listen to this synth... i gota turn this one off and so forth. It's sad, too bad.. next week im grabbing an audiophile 192. Until then, its ok to hate this song

Yeah most definately! I'm still unclear but I guess that's why I need to practice eh? You know what? I didn't even know that the Production Studio section on TA existed! Thanks for bringing it to my attention! Well now I have a mission for the day, to read guides like crazy! Thanks Ikki!

Posted by Barachem on Feb-10-2005 15:14:

If you are only beginning in cubase, this sounds really good.
Congrats to your skills.

It may sound cheesy to some extend, but the mastering is done very well, the composition may not be earthshaking, but it's good enough.

Just for being a noob cubase producer that makes such a well produced cheesy track, i reward you with tadah... 85 out of 100 points!

Posted by Leifo on Feb-10-2005 18:30:

Thanks barachem!
Yeah synths are cheesified, and sequence... well, what sequence!? drag and drop drag adn drop.. thanks for the listen, oh and kudos on using the word "tadah" in your post. People can learn from this man!!!
