dreamcast should be taken off... its a piece of crap that was poplular when there was no competition for it.

Posted by Excite on Nov-06-2001 07:15:

All these systems including Dreamcast support 128-bit graphics. My point is the Dreamcast was released way back in 1998 yet Nintendo and Microsoft have yet come up with a system that is much better in terms of graphics.

BTW PS2 is not that much better than Dreamcast if you look at the graphics of the same games released on both systems.

Posted by lMIlk on Nov-06-2001 07:20:

correct me if i'm wrong but, how many new games are comin out for dreamcast...none

Posted by Coup on Nov-06-2001 10:56:

my bro ownz a dreamcast and sonic adventure kicks ass!!!

Posted by Flippe on Nov-06-2001 15:00:

Dreamcast and PS2 are already released.
And Gamecube and Xbox aren't
so you' better buy a Xbox or Gamecube when they come out!

Just my $0,02

Unhappy Sega, you poor bastards..

Dreamcast is actually a very good system. Sega's worked it out so that its hardware can be upgraded. unfortunately, like always, Sega was WAY ahead of their time, and Sony and Nintendo took advantage of this..thus, Sega has conceded in the game-console race, and has pledged its technologies to Nintendo and Sony and will develop games for them. I'm excited by this. Sega has always been ahead of everyone.. but like I said, ahead of their time. Do you guys remember how gamegear was better graphics? You could watch TV on it for chrissakes! Then there was SegaCD (flop) but better than SNES nonetheless.. then there was 32X..that thing was crazy good.. no one bought it. I don't get it.. they should have cornered the market long ago... they just can't get a break..
Kudos on stickin' in there, Sega!(for a while, anyhow.. )

BSE

BTW.. gamecube will smoke x-box! Long Live Smash Brothers!!!!!!!!!!..and Zelda!..and Metroid! and Mario!..Kirby! I love you guys.

if you compare some first generation ps2 games this is true, but its not anymore.

ps2 has been slow to have developers take advantage of the total power of the system. the dual vector units take some getting used to but can pump out graphics much improved from the best dreamcast games, come on sega jumped ship and is developing for ps2 and xbox now - that must say something! right now is prolly the renaissance of the ps2, hopefully just the beginning. the games out now are great and only looking better.

there was some debate as to whether the gamecube could match up to either the ps2 or the xbox, and frankly i think it could very well be better. its cheaper than either since nintendo abandoned cartridges and isnt making it a DVD player, set top box, whatever like the other two. plus the graphics are amazing. its easier to program for so i imagine the visuals wont improve as much as ps2 for example. nintendo has the best developers as well, so you KNOW the games will be awesome.

its hard to be as unbiased as possible with the xbox. frankly i see it as microsoft throwing money around cause they have taken over everything else. its graphics are better than either ps2 or gamecube, and they have been buying off developers left and right, but it still remains to be seen whether americans, or especially the japanese, will respond. the n64 died not because of lax sales here, but in japan. xbox is obviously seen as less of a 'toy' than the n64 was, but microsoft is really gonna have to prove that they know what they are doing. visuals are great but you MUST have gameplay as well to succeed.

ok im using valuable time to discuss time wasters, i better get back to work...late/

what i think is amazing is that nintendo contracted someone to make a CD system for the SNES...they chose to discontinue it, but eventually it was released, after more development, as the SONY Playstation...late/

dreamcast sucks?
u gotta be kiddin me..its pretty good for when it came out...was way ahead in da game when it came out...nice cpu in there too...

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on Nov-06-2001 23:48:

Dreamcast was a failure from the day it released. I predicted it was going to fail and it pretty much did. Sure they they had some good sellers but PS2 has so many more good games and most of the best sellers from Dreamcast are being released on other systems.

As for Gamecube vs. Xbox, Gamecube will sell better in Japan than XBox because of it's size compared to Xbox. Gamecube is small because the Japanese don't have alot of room where they live, PS2 can be vertical for the same reason, XBox on the other hand is HUGE.

I think that PS2 will continue to sell better than both the systems. Sony has much better gaming companies than either system IMO. Metal Gear Solid 2 comes out next week...that should be reason enough to get a PS2

we're talking about now. Dreamcast was a failure and was killed by PS2 and so was the sega saturn which was killed by playstation.

Yeah but the thing was big and clunky, if u tried to put it in your pocket u might split your pants (same with Gameboy but GB was smaller). Gamegear also ate up batteries FAST.

O yeah, and there is no way Sega CD was better than SNES IMO. SNES is one of the best systems ever.

Pooh. My point was that Sega has always been just a little too far ahead.. and they always lose out.

Posted by lMIlk on Nov-07-2001 05:16:

gamegear was much better then gameboy but it was fucking big, took 6 batteries and well it was HUGE but then again so was gameboy back then, i don't understand how sega loses.

Nothing beats the good ol' NES

Nothing beats the good ol' NES... that system ruled back in the 80s...

I kinda regret selling it a few years back for some quick cash

Posted by lMIlk on Nov-07-2001 06:01:

i miss that duck hunter game. lol that thing was so inaccurate all you had to do was shoot in the correct side of the screen.

Posted by DJ Firestarter on Nov-07-2001 20:50:

I think the PS2 will be the best. I've allready got a Dreamcast it's a good machine but not alot of good games for it. PS2 will be the best because more good games will be on it after the PSone succes.

Posted by {b.s.e.} on Nov-08-2001 02:08:

Heh. PS2 is a POS.
Compared to xbox or gc, the new playstation falls short of comparrison. It uses the same crappy control stlye, can't process graphics as fast, it's big and clunky, poor future gaming prospects (IMO)..except for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Devil May Cry. They lost the gaming rights to Nintendo for Resident Evil.. I dunno.. I think they may be on the losing end this time. *triumphant grin* WHich is good, because I've hated that damn console since day -1.

i think the x box or the game cube is gonna be the best. either way, i hope they will be released soon, so the prices of all the consoles will drop.
a few years ago i played a wrestling game on the sega 16 bit. At a freinds house. And you hade to press all the buttons really fast, but it were very crappy controllers, so i cut my thumbs open on them. i hate sega ever since!

well you can say what you want- its your opinion, but it is also clear you never spent much time with a ps2 OR a psONE for that fact. the controller is the same because its the best, and no other reason. its been tightened up, and all the buttons are analog now, but you cant say that the controller sucks, its prolly the best one ever made. and for MGS2 and Devil May Cry being good games, this is true, but they arent the only ones. PLUS MGS2 is coming out for xbox so its not even a reason of have a ps2. its reasons like GT3 - A spec, ICO(read:art), THPS3(also on other systems), SSX Tricky, GTA3, Ace Combat 4, plus the games you mentioned, and many others. mostly tho, the ps2 is ALREADY successful and we havent seen the other two yet. n64 was technically superior to ther psx, but it never actually won out. no one can say the same wont happen for GC or xbox, but the xbox is much more likely to encounter difficulties. late/

LoL, MGS2 is not coming out on XBox they are doing something with the original on XBox, but I'm not totally sure what it is.

As for controllers, I think that Gamecube (GCN) will have the most confortable. I'm surprised that Microsoft didn't win most confortable controller since they normally have really nice ones.

And for those that are saying that PS2 is slow and can't process things as fast...it's not always the hardware of the system that makes the system great, it's the games that count and not by graphics but by gameplay. This game on PSX called "Xenogears" has some horrible graphics but has one of the most amazing and ingenious story lines I have ever heard, I didn't understand it at first but once my friend explained it to me I was hooked and couldn't stop playing!
