Wink Plastic Boy - Twixt (Icone Remix) [Full 192kbps]

Hey all,

I've finally got to finishing this remix after Sunquest asking for it in a previous post

Download it here :

Plastic Boy - Twixt (Icone Remix) (right click, save as)

I'd describe this remix as a more powerful, driving take on the (in my opinion awesome) original track. People who got this remix before 10/02, there's a new version. I hope you like it!

Cheers,
Wim

yessssss
been waiting for here this
and im first to reply , w00000t
quality is perfect, nothing to say there as usuall
melody is classic

sounds great, nice sounds, i like this more than the 2004 remix,
but i think you still couldve added something more to make it stand out from the original...

thanks for sharing, definatly great

Hmm nice drive.

Can't really say i like that small melody in the intro.

hmm no huge pads.

hmm is that the melody from the original twixt?(don't think i ever heard the original twixt), i don't remember hearing it in the 2004 version which realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly like.

I must say it isn't really doing anything to me, but once i get home i'll give it a proper listen with headphones, see if i can feel it.

Dude this is a stormer!!!

Very nice drive to it!

However...

When the first big line ended, I felt it was a bit empty, and then it ended rather quickly, so I figured the next one would be massive

The next one hits, but it still felt empty.

Maybe add some more effects, or make whats there a bit more audible...so the main driving melody isn't the ONLY focus, granted it's the main focus of course...

I don't know...it's very cool, I enjoyed it much, I just want to hear something more in the big line, at least the 2'nd one

Thanks for sharing!!!

Edit: Maybe do something with the bassline....it sounds a bit plain, so maybe working with that might beef up the song

Thanks for the comments guys, all are appreciated!

I didn't add too much to the original melodies, because I'm too much in love with them to break them up... Hope that's ok. That's what the 2004 mix did, and I for one really don't like that mix after being such an addict to the original

Cheers,
Wim

PS: Sunquest, you TA inbox is full mate

Echoing the comments I made in the sample you sent in its early stages - a fantastic remix thats really does the tune justice! Typical driving Icone style that moves this tune! Unfortunatly it is one of those tunes that in its original form can not be bettered! I know you can appreciate that! Onto the next remix eh? How about a re-rub of another classic Veracocha 'Carte Blanche'?

Take it easy chap!

didnt like the snare at 00:50
also the first seconds of the track is pretty bad
add some fx or something to it.. its boring to hear only a kick

didnt really like the sound of the main lead
but overall a very nice remix
good job

this is how a lot of mike tracks start.

since the threads at t.nu dies so fast, ill post here too

I made a remix of this.. and it was looking to be my best production to date... then the project file when corrupt and i lost everything i did on it...

anyways:

listening:

Kick is a bit to boring imo.. great bass.. great energy.. percussiona are tight.. love the energy.. i like the breakdown.. after the breakdown it sounds good... but i think the kick ruins it all.. its to hard and upfront.. and i think the strings needs rto be more upfront.. they are hardly noticable after the break.. so the main leads gets boring because of that.. and the synths are a but to mellow.. otherwise.. good production

7.5/10

looking forward to listen to this one. thanks for sharing, i'll come back and comment a bit later !

edit: very nice ! the main part didnt make it for me (mainly because of the melody) but i really like the sounds you used and that melody in the buildup.

great job

Thumbs up

good stuff wim, keep it up

Posted by Icone on Feb-09-2005 22:30:

Thanks alot guys!

Steve: I know about those all-time classics... But part of making a remix of it is also bringing them back into the picture, which I like about it
Veracocha sounds nice, though even more difficult at first glance hehe.

.A.Y: I'm glad you like the remix! It is indeed though like Sirocco said, alot of MIKE tracks start like that.

Subtle: I tried various kicks for the track in its progress, though I thought this was the only one that fitted best for it. Will keep on trying though, as I agree it's a pretty deep one.

dj_palm: thanks for the comment! There's no piano sound in it though?

Cheers @ the rest
Wim

Finally, I have been waiting for this remix. I really loved the little sample you posted a while ago, and I'm even more surprised by this amazing remix. Really, it's just great, it could have been MIKE's 2004 version. Keep up the good work!

YES and I'm happy you started the same way.

i like it m8.. sounds really nice..
maybe could have added some variation to the lead thou

Posted by Icone on Feb-09-2005 23:00:

TranceManiac: thanks mate, I'm glad you like it - I'll do my best for the next ones to come

daniel: thanks for your input mate, I appreciate it. I've tried fiddling with the lead - again I have to admit - though I couldn't find a suitable variation for it. It would have ruined the track I think if I did it

Bye,
Wim

baaah... you just suck.. hahahaha

Posted by gerrycueto on Feb-10-2005 00:41:

impressive! this is far better than most of the stuff I hear from you. I don't really care for the bassline tho... I would have prefer it going octaves down like the following pattern 1 bar pattern: 2-1 2-1 2-1 2-1 (having the second bass note on the upbeat go down) I think it would work better in a club... it would get me moving more at least.

The bassline here is too commercial... sounds like something coming from Lasgo... I think it would be massive if you changed it to that pattern suggested.

other than that excellent remix... that's all I have to say!

Posted by Axolotyl on Feb-10-2005 00:55:

Solid remix of a classic track. The intro is sweet and it really takes off after the second breakdown at 4.40.

Posted by pho mo on Feb-10-2005 01:31:

Great production skills. Didn't like it as much as Twixt 2004 - I guess you get though when remixing popular tunes.

Posted by iloop on Feb-10-2005 03:58:

good mix, i personaly like the kick its got a great punch to it. Its also dj frendly so with your permission i'd like to play this out...

Posted by tylerc on Feb-10-2005 07:13:

sounds really nice man! great sounds as usual and a great melody too.

its very well produced, but the song really didn't do a lot for me. you definitely have your sounds down now tho, very nice.

Posted by NoisyNeil on Feb-10-2005 08:02:

this is really one big remix Wim, I really love it

You mind if I give this a spin?

I like the drive and the bassline, but thats usual stuff in your tracks. I really like the melody in the intro, but the main melody is a bit repetetive...track also needs something that stands out from the rest, i think the track is kinda standard, no tricks, no weird sounds that keep hangin in my head...

Other then that its a great track to listen to but it lacks originality, its not yuur best work for sure.
