Question Mixed Live CD Series(Corsten, Tall paul, Carl Cox)

I was wondering around a big HMV when i stumbled across "mixed live by ferry corsten" in 5.1 surround sound!!!

I guess my question is, is this CD worth getting for the extra 5.1 audio? Im a big audipphile, and i love surround sound, and i am a forsten fan. But its a bit more, and i just wanted to know if this is anything special?

or how about the Taull Paull one, or the Coxy one?

common people, does nobody have these cds?

I hate anything more than 2 channels for audio.

5/6/7.1 is AMAZING for home theater, but nothing beats a quality stereo set-up.

i have both Carl Cox mixed live Cds, its some tight shit, i highly recommend them. i have no idea why you would need a 5.1 unless you have a specific speaker set up, which would probably give you a cool more "live" experience. if you dont have the 5.1 set up, go with the normal version.

Either way that CD is the SHIT.

Donald Glaude/DJ Dan are the best.

Ferry's set itself is great. I don't know how the 5.1 audio sounds because I don't have a 5.1 setup. But the cd shouldn't be much more expensive than a regular cd. If you think it is then I would check out Best Buy or Amazon instead to get it at a good price.

As Dmatrox says, I can see no reason for getting this album unless you want to hear it anyway BUT, BUT, BUT dont think it's been designed for 5.1.

This album may not have been mixed using a program capable of 5.1 mixing, think about it. All the tracks would have to have been created and mixed using a 5.1 capable sequencer which I doubt they have been. Only if they have individually panned each instrument within the 5.1 environment would you get the full 5.1 experience. A tremendous amount of work is needed for this, emphasis on the tremendousness.

Check out AERO by Jean Michel Jarre for a serious example of 5.1 used to full effect then compare aero to this creation. I guarantee you will or at least should hear a difference.

There isnt many trance artists who use the 5.1 medium to full effect because there is no need or commercial viability yet although there are some putting the required effort into stereo imaging. What you may get is pseudo 5.1 which is not a true recreation of surround.

See, if you think about your balance knobs within your stereo image left and right, a little bit of balance left draws the sound to the front left most and the rear left a little, as you turn it further left it only draws current further round to the left side gradually going from the left front to the left rear completely and the same applies to the right. This is merely an expansion of a stereo image which has been with us since the days of the first stereophonic productions. Think about it. Im a sound engineer.

Dont be fooled by 5.1 pseudo creations my tv can do that, look for a 5.1 creation and i'm sorry but there aren't many in dance music right now if any, there just isn't the need for it, although I and other artists may seek to change this. Fingers crossed.

Peace out.

P.S, I am not in any way detracting from the musical content, only about the labelling of a 5.1 product, it may be a con. I love the music no less.

first off the mixed live cd's are the shit.... hands down the best mixed cd's... i hate studio albums. second.. tall pauls 2nd session was the best one by far.... third... unfortunetly moonshine is now out of business and that means no more mixed live cd's. i still cry alittle everyday about that.

Got some tasty tunes on that, some I woudn't mind hearing on my 7.1 home theater. I'd grab it.
