4 Strings - Daytime Diving (Remix) 4:05 128Kbps

Hi,

I am a total noob, a female from Queens New York. I have been working with Fruity Loops for about 2 months, so I really dont have a style yet, or definite decided producer name but I just wanted some feedback to see how horrible I really am. I dont have much instruction, mostly learned from watching, reading the forums, and playing around.

This is kind of a VS. song I made of the songs by 4 Strings, Daytime and Diving. I made it just now. I have been up since yesterday. I started working on the track at 11pm est last night. If I get any positve feedback I will continue to work on it.

I would appreciate some comments on what I should work on. Try not to flame too hard

Please let me know if the link works.

Thanks

Z

hey..ill have a listen!
the hihat is too loud, at 8khnz theres a high peak...
kick is to dumb for my taste...try another sample and have some compression on it...
you could add some more percs to have the track more driving...
also a bassline is totally missing...
that high-string is hurting my ears...

sounds very negative (i guess criticism is best for you to learn [not meant evil]), but you used some nice sounds...it has potential...
for 2 months working with FL this is quite good...
take some time and train things, have a listen to other stuff and compare and i guess youll make some better tracks in future...
we all were n00bs some day...so keep it up...

Thanks for the feedback, any comments are appreciated, they will only help me improve. I am not very good at making kicks etc....I should probably practice just making various one for a while until I get the hang of it. My other problem is when I walk away from a song in the middle of it I am lost. Did that happen to you when you first started out?

download some kick-samples...
http://www.dorumalaia.com offers some good samples! also percs...

to learn how to build up a track, listen to professional tracks...helps a lot and increases your horizon what is possible and what does sound good...another possibility is the try-and-error-method!

this aint bad for only having started with no knowledge for 2 months experimentation.

klengzentrum is right, you do need some better samples than just the fl ones as they are pretty bad. the sequencing is well random and there is no bass.

there are a lot of positives to take out tho, the synthwork is surprisingly decentm the sound is generally very clean and the idea is pretty cool + original.

trance needs more girl producers thats for sure

if you get stuck getting samples or anythin ill happily sort some out for you

i like the psytranceish intro.. i recognice the melody.. pherhaps try cleaning the sounds up a little more.. sounds a little messy.. it doesnt sound bad for the time of production u have..

I like the rhythm gated lead, but the drums are off... heh once again, try to substitute those corny hi hats with a good hats loop... or add the hat loop and turn down the cheese-hats. You got the diving melody spot on... There are barely any elements from Daytime tho. Is that supposed to come in a later version?

Give that pad note a break! There's a pad note that plays the entire song... how boring

and the track lacks a solid bassline and structure... not bad for starting tho... at least you've got a clean sound so far

Ghost Smilie

i miss a bassline in it. this would probably make the mix even more interesting.... i think this sounds very good for only been producing for two months
and as already mentioned, leave the pad out at some points...

Thanks for your replies. I will look into getting some more samples. I dont know how to use anything other than FL so far so I am stuck with this for now until I max this prog out then I will move onto learning something else. I dont want to overflow my brain with different programs at once.

I will see if I can add more elements of daytime in the end and remove the pad.

There is bass in it but it is a low bass so I guess no one hears it. Is there anywhere I can go to read up about making different types of catchy baselines?

FL can be lethal weapon in the right hands...

Check out stuff by Guyver, Gaz West, Rebirth, Technikal, TFT, and Nullistic. All their stuff is made in fruityloops and sounds just as good as any other trance out there.

You just gotta get past the fruity stuff like the c_kick and the fruity synths and stuff... replace them with VST instruments and effects... and use the buzzadaptor.. it's got good effects too.

I used vanguard for the song. Is that a good VST?
