Blank & Jones Live @ Club Avalon NYC Review (Febuary 11th-12th, 2005)
Just got back an hour ago...The song selection was good. They did play Nightfly. And that was a pretty good request by me (
) On the other hand, their mixing wasn't that great. And to think solid producers cant mix that well. I still like em tho. I guess all was not lost when I paid $30 at the door. Got my vinyls & CDs signed, was in the booth for most of the night & Piet Blank giving me the repressed copy of Perfect Silence (E-Craig Mixes).
Anyone got an idea of the Tracklist if at all possible. The first track they played was "Perfect Silence," but was a remix. Can anyone ID? Also heard Eric Prydz - Call On Me. But was a trance mix. Also ID too.
The majority of producers that dont DJ - usually dont mix very well.

I agree that the mixing wasn't great, but I loved the tunes
A good amount of stuff not played by other DJ's, at least around here
great seeing TA's who traveled from far and wide to see them
Hey great meeting you PartyHopper heh I saw you getting hyped while Tony Draper was playing. I am also glad the that Glow Gurls and friends came along.Also I finally got to met Colibri. I have to say that Avalon wasn't that bad since it wasn't as packed. But I notice that alot of asians where fuked on whatever 
As for a tracklist I think they play about 10-11 tracks.There was a goof-up because they didn't know how to use Tony's mixer or sumthing.
But yeah they played some really hard stuff all night which really pleased after going throgh some crap earlier.

first of all, even though i was miserably sick, i am so glad i didnt back out. it was definitely an awesome set, and i was not disappointed. they played a nice mix of new stuff and old favorites. There was plenty of room to dance for most of the night, but for some reason it was unbearably hot upstairs. I think some of their mixing problems came from the fact that they didnt know how to work the club's mixer. when they came on (late - around 2) they were being showed how to work the mixer for a good 15 minutes. they started with the one song i HAD to hear last night or i wouldnt be happy - Perfect Silence. I'm not sure what remix it was but i know i have it on my computer at home, so when i get there i'll see which one it was. They were very energetic, really in tune with the crowd, and obviously having a lot of fun. Some songs i remember:

the crowd really wasnt that bad... saw one fight, right behind me and a guy's nose bleeding. got groped and grabbed by all sorts of rude guys who cant just let a girl dance by herself, but didnt let that ruin my time. had a blast partying with kasper & nicole, my glowsista sky, jose the birthday boy, dan (partyhopper), david (colibri), partrick (peace n trance) and his girls, and it was nice meeting enigma and pyro. the opening djs didnt really do it for me - i felt like i was back at club amnesia in wilkes-barre circa 1995, but oh well, it was worth the wait. they spun til a little after 5 and then the first dj came back on - whoever he was. thats when we left. coat check was a nightmare - waited in line for probably 45 minutes and they lost my gloves anyway.
fun night though! i'll upload pics and vids when i get home.
i also had a fun pregame dinner with lyss & drew, alisa & john, and verndogs thanks for helping me kill some time in ny.
oh - but once again avalon pulls through being dickheads... we were on clubplanets guestlist to get in - girls free before 11 and they wouldnt let us because we didnt have some flier. and that's the only reason we went so early. when we first got in (after paying $20), they were cleaning up some kind of fashion show and all these people were walking around in suits and skirts. i thought it was kind of unprofessional how they turned on some of the lights and started sweeping the floor and ripping up the place right in front of us. not to mention this was all while listening to 80s music, lol.

DAMNNN I HAD AN AMAZING TIME LAST NIGHT ..... BLANK N JONES SET WAS CRAZZZY ! i was obviously glowstringin on that stage and so was my friend..... all in all i had a really good time !

As mentioned already, Blank & Jones spun a lot of classic songs and I was happy for it. I had a really great time. Avalon typically is so horrific but the last 2 times have been fine, mostly because it hasn't been very full. I didn't see any fights and pretty much saw a bunch of people going wild to some slammin' trance.
On a number of occasions though I turned to my friend and gave him that "did you hear that awful trainwreck?" face. One song was transitioned into the next by like 1 second... very abrupt.
Anyway, the track selection was sweet. The guys seemed to be enjoying themselves. At one point, I recognized like 20 songs in a row which really wasn't bad because there was so many good ones.
Nice change of pace....
yea blank and jones are terrable mixers
even on their mix cd's
they have cram 16 songs on a cd and only play like 3 or 4 min of the song and the mixes on that arent even that good and thats done in a studio
their track selection was great last night the crowd was better then what i expected it to be, but it was nutin special
and the syestem still sucks my ears are killin me today
the high's were too much
yep... the ringing in my ears went on for quite a few hours after i got home. it was almost too loud to fall asleep.
Was a good time.. but I never spot TA's at Avalon 
Met B&J and hung out in the DJ booth until everyone got kicked out
Great tracklist.. really liked the track from trainspotting can't remember exact name of it..

Blank and Jones were amazing. They blew the place up, though it wasnt that packed. I got my request in too which was kool. I got someone to hand Piet Blank a paper I brought with "Call on Me" (remix) written on it. So everyone that was talkin earlier in the thread about that song, that was my request. As soon as it came on, Piet looked for me on the side, pointed at me and gave me the thumbs up that its coming! I went nuts, ran downstairs and danced my ass off. Overall, the mixing wasnt crazy, but I didnt go for their mixing, but rather their track selection is awesome and alot of DJ's dont spin them that much.

damn cant beleive i missed this one i was playing warcraft frozen throne "dota" map... til 3 am.. i totally forgot about this . Thats good that you guys had fun... and nice pics.. take more next time of the whole crowd in general .

it really helped, my ears arnt ringing at all, and u can still hear great when using them 
y is there a video camera there?
